ext3 patch for 2.4.6 (plain or ac1)
Does the ext3 patch applies on top of the newly released 2.4.6 kernel (and/or the 2.4.6-ac1 variant) ? I want to upgrade to the new kernel and wanted to know before I run into problems if there are any known problems and if it's better to wait for an 'official' release. Thanks. 0.9.2 or 0.9.3 ?
Hi, I found out that a new version of ext3-2.4 was available from the previous messages on this list, despite the fact that no 'official' announce was given... I'm currently running 0.9.1 on 2.4.6-ac2 without problems. Should I upgrade to 0.9.2 (I suppose yes by reading the changelog :-)) ? What about the 0.9.3-pre version ? What does the -pre mean exactly (any incidence on the

Ok, Im an idiot. Can't remount the ext3 filesystem because I deleted the /.jounral file...
Hello everyone, Ok, I admit it - I'm an idiot. But it seemed the right thing to do at the time.... I'm running RH 6.2 with a 2.2.19ext3 (ext3 0.0.7). I wanted to try out the new 2.4 kernel line, so I upgraded modutils, gcc and few other things.. Compiled the kernel (did NOT patch it to ext3) and installed it and rebooted. Well, it didn't understand ext3 fs.. Ok... Boot back into

quota problems with ext3/249-ac9
Hi! I've got some "serious" quota-problems with ext3... it seems not to work at all... I'm currently running 249-ac9 with no patches, slackware 7.x-current from january or so, all the quota-utils from the original distribution. the kernel prompts correctly "VFS: Diskquotas version dquot_6.5.0 initialized" and that was it. neither quotacheck nor repquota or any other

Lots of lost+found files ...
Hi, I've recently had a spate of filesystem errors on my laptop which is running a vanilla RedHat 7.2 (kernel 2.4.7) using the ext3 filesystem on all partitions. I have been using the laptop with no apparent problems for some time but last weekend, when I was trying to compile Evolution overnight, I hit a compile problem; it complained that a Makefile didn't exist in a script directory.

Patch for latest ac release?
Lo, Is there already a patch out for latest 2.4.6-ac release? I'm pretty sure that the ext3 patch -ac2 can not be applied on this release. Bye. -- the trees the birds the air the grass the water the flies the trees

CELT question
Hello, I want to use the CELT codec in an embedded solution. For the embedded solution, the processor speed is of great importance. In the documentation (the presentation of Dr. Jean-Marc Valin, Gregory Maxwell and Dr. Timothy B. Terriberry) the CELT LC (low complexity) mode is mentionned. The LC mode should use half the memory recources and half the MIPS. My question is how to tell the CELT

Openssh-2.1.0p1 test release
This to announce a test release of 2.1.0p1 before making it widely available. This release includes many fixes to problems reported over the last week. In particular: - spurious error and coredumps caused by the inbuilt entropy gathering - RSAref detection - Compilation fixes for Solaris and others It also contains (completely untested) support for compiling without RSA support. This may be

Is it possible to delete a file from dump? I saved it in one dump archive, and want to save space by deleting it from the others. Thanks. Scott

[LLVMdev] Re: [Opencxx-users] LLVM and OpenC++
Hi Grzegorz, > Hard to say. What is "second breath"? Are you proposing a solution that > integrates OpenC++ with LLVM? Please elaborate. let's separate "what" and "how". I do not speak abot "how" right now, because it is rather a second step (if any). I do believe that reflections without interpreter or JITing can't be any powerfull.

Daily snapshots...
All, How can I get at the daily snapshots? When I go to the website, www.openssh.com, and follow the Linux link to portable.html and then go to request the daily snapshot from http://bass.directhit.com/openssh_snap/, I get prompted for a user id and password. Needless to say, I ain't got. That's real useful. Use to be, I could get the snapshots from the ftp site. Then things

I thought that the message, https://listman.redhat.com/pipermail/ext3-users/2001-July/000804.html , was the official announcement. BTW, no problems here with 0.9.0. 1 week and some hours of

2GB of Waste? How can it be?
Dr. Tweedie, et al.: I recently formatted a partition using EXT3, and after a "df -h" I get 14GB of space. When I reformatted the partition with ReiserFS, and did a "df -h" I got 16GB of space! Now the partition was setup to be 16GB via fdisk, so 16GB is correct. However, why does EXT3 loose 2GB of space? The journals cannot be that big!?! Very Respectfully, Stuart

Issues when updating CentOS 7
Hi all, I wanted to update my CentOS 7 install this morning and I started getting the errors from below. Any ideas on a fix? They seem to be related to cinnamon which I actually don't use at all (the machine was prepared by our IT at work and they install both Gnome and Cinnamon by default). Since I don't use it, I guess an option would be to remove it altogether and then I will

DSA Fingerprints...
Hello, Questions, observations, and curiosities. Maybe this is something stupid or maybe I'm doing something wrong... But... In light of the Kurt Seifried paper on SSH and SSL, I was looking for the finger prints on my various servers and known hosts files to have a little crib sheet and maybe plug the list into a database on my palm pilot. I found that ssh-keygen lists out the

Slow disk access on Dell Latitute with ATA/ATAPI-5 T13 1321D
Hi... I have a Dell Latitute with an ATA/ATAPI-5 T13 1321D and it would seem that my disk access is extremely slow. I have the latest updated kernel from RedHat 8.0 kernel 2.4.18-27.8.0. Somehow I think it is related to the UDMA stuff (shows my level of understanding). I have run hdparm and although I think I should at least udma level 5, I have at most udma2 listed. Is this a kernel

Feature Request: RSA and PasswordAuth subsequently
I want the server to require after a sucessful RSA authentication additional PasswordAuthentication. This feature is implemented in the ssh-server from ssh.com and there ist a need for it. Certainly i can buy the ssh.com version but i would rather prefer to use openssh. If nothing obvious militate against the attempt to implement this feature for openssh, i toy with the idea to do it myself.
