Samba 3.0.0/2a fails on W2k/98 side, perfect with smbclient
Sorry - just repeat the previous one... just adding that there were no
network errors in ifconfig output.
Hi everybody,
I failed to make Samba 3.0.0 /3.0.2a working from Windows side on the
slightly different Slackware?s.
Last try was the ?current? Slackware version(kernel 2.4.25) of some
March 20?s with Samba 3.0.2a in it. Server: Asus P4P800-PIV?RAM 1.5(1)Gb-

motherboard to use with CentOS 3
I'm about to build a server.
I want to use a P4, and have lotsa RAM, I don't need audio, I do want
to do RAID, but I'll do software RAID if hw isn't available for IDE.
the RH hardware list seems rather woefully out of date, does anyone have
any recommendations for a good motherboard guaranteed to work?
I'm looking at ASUS P4P800-E-deluxe which has a driver on the ASUS

:: BIOS Motherboard Settings ::
I am using an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe which is a motherboard that has been tested
with Asterisk. I am unsure about the PCI slot and IRQ settings in the BIOS
and am having problems with a WCFXO card sharing with other devices. Any
suggestions on the settings required for Asterisk to avoid IRQ conflicts?
Thanks :)

Boot problem on a P4P800-based computer
Hello all,
I tried sending this message to freebsd-config and freebsd-install,
after subscribing to them, but no one answered back... so I am posting
my question here.
I just downloaded ISO images for 4.8-RELEASE, and prepared them for
installation on an brand new ASUS P4P800-based computer.
More information about this motherboard and integrated peripherals list,
can be found here:

The semaphore timeout period has expired
Hello Hamish.
I found your message just googling for Suse and sk98lin.
Did you solve your problem?
I had the same case and only way to restore was to change NIS driver speed
settings from AUTO to 10Mb. And it was not related to OS as the same problem
is in WXP ( I have dual boot, ASUS P4P800, integrated GB NIS ).

Booting LINUX from external USB Hard Drive
Hi,
I would like to boot a LINUX system from an external USB Hard Drive.
Motherboard (ASUS P4P800) supports boot from USB with or without floppy
emulation. Is it possible to use syslinux for booting without any floppy
or CD, just from the external USB drive?

Wanted: smartcard with ECDSA support
Hi,
I'm interested in extending OpenSSH's PKCS#11 code to support ECDSA
keys, but have so far been unable to find anyone who can sell me
a smartcard that supports it.
They certainly exist - AFAIK it's required by the US PIV standard,
but obtaining cards that support it in single digit quantities
seems all but impossible.
Can anybody on this list help? I'd want 2-6 cards/tokens

Help with PDC hardware
Hey everyone. Our network has a PII 350Mhz Windows NT
server. It serves as our
PDC. It also serves our email, print and file sharing
needs. We have plans of
totally phasing out this computer.
There are two candidates for the replacement of our
PDC. One is a PIV 1.7Ghz
with 768MB of memory (hostname: Karou). This computer
is currently our intranet
web server. The other computer is a PIV 2.8Ghz

OpenSSH PKCS#11merge
[[Sending again, as for some strange reason it is not accepted]]
Hello OpenSSH developers,
I maintain external patch for PKCS#11 smartcard support into
OpenSSH[1] , many users already apply and use this patch.
I wish to know if anyone is interesting in working toward merging this
into mainline.
I had some discussion with Damien Miller, but then he disappeared.

Smart cards, mostly solved
So, it *seems* to be working, pretty much. I needed to install
opensc, openct pcsc-lite, pcsc-lite-openct, and ctapi-common will be
installed as a dependency.
I *removed* coolkey and esc, which depended on it. 100% of the time, they
misidentifed the new/current US federal ID PIV-II cards as coolkey cards,
and popped up this "phone home" window, then a "manage smartcards"

Is my card bad?
Hi,
I have a 1 port T1 card in an asus p4p800-vm board with a 2.0g Celeron, and
512m of 266mhz ram (256 on each channel). This board has video, Ethernet,
and serial ata all on-board, I got it because of that, there wouldn't be
anything else on the pci bus that would mess with the zaptel card(s).
So, here's my problem. I'm running redhat 9 with kernel 2.4.20-20.9. I can

OpenSSH not requesting PIN code for YubiKey
I set up the YubiKey with OpenSSH 8.2 (Ubuntu client and server) and it
works. However, it does not do PIN enforcement at SSH login. It only
requests the PIN during the set-up process (when the key is being
generated). Is that the way it's supposed to work?

firefox unable to load pkcs11 module
Hi Tony,
Have you solved this problem yet?I took another approach and used CACkey which supportsUS Government PIV cards including the CAC.? In my case I set it up on Linux Mint but there is an rpm version of CACKey for 32 or 64 bit Centos. Here is the process I went through.
- setup CAC card by following instructions on:

sudo apt-get install

settings up cheap a NAS / SAN server, is it possible?
Hi all
I want to look at setting up a simple / cheap SAN / NAS server using
normal PIV motherboard, 2GB (or even more) RAM, Core 2 Duo CPU (probably
a Intel 6700 / 6750 / 6800) & some SATA HDD's (4 or 6x 320GB - 750GB).
My budget is limited, so I can't afford a pre-built NAS device.
Can this be done with CentOS? I've been looking FreeNAS (which is built
on FreeBSD), and it

Our asterisk PBX, randomly restarts all the channels of the E1 connection. It sends this message
"There is no D-Channel, using channel 16 anyway".Then the asteisk recive (or it thinks it
recives) yellow alarms at all the B-channels, after that it restart all the channels. When
restarting the B-channels it cut all the conversations that is handling at that moment. Does
