Hi, I've been looking for a way to stop users creating new sub-directories under a top level (shared) directory - which will need to contain 3 readymade directories and/or to stop users placing files outside the 3 readymade directories. You should be able to click Tools/Disconnect Network Drive from a Windows Explorer window, then select the connection to the Samba server and click ok. Note, this can be done even if the connection was not mapped to a drive letter, such as by typing \\server\share in the run box. You can then map a drive to the server with a different user account. We will setup a vpn, we also know the ports to open but the real question is if there is any parameter to increase the timeout period when the windows machines decide that there is no "share" at the other end....
