security = ADS
Hi all, I've been fighting with joining my samba server (debian) to my active directory domain for 4 days now. The problem here is that users in my active directory domain on windows machines are not able to browse my samba shares without being prompted for authentication. I can: - Join the domain from samba server using net ads - View list of tickets when brownsing window shares with

Compromised
My wife's office server was compromised today. It appears they ssh'ed in through account pcguest which was set up for Samba. (I don't remember setting up that account, but maybe I did.) At any rate, I found a bazillion "ftp_scanner" processes running. A killall finished them off quickly, I nuked the pcguest account, and switched ssh to a different port (which I normally do

Domain DFS on samba 4
Hello, Our company currently stores its data on centralized samba servers which causes performance problems for remote office employees. We are thinking of decentralizing the data with NAS in each office and synchronizing all the NAS on our central domain controller with MSDFS. I have heard this can be done in real time with Windows and Active Directory.

Throughput problem with Samba 3.3.4 over VPN
Hi, I am currently in the process of improving performance for a Samba 3.3.4 server on FreeBSD 7.0. The samba server works great when mounted from another machine located on the same network but when I try to use it over our corporate VPN (OpenVPN with tap interface) the throughput won't go over 4,5 Mbps. The ping between the samba client and the server is around 20ms. I have used a linux

problems with TDM400P
Hi, We have two of these 4 port FXO cards. However, we are having some problems with incoming/outgoing calls. The latest version of Asterisk/zaptel from CVS is being used. Voicemail, internal SIP <-> SIP calls between Pingtel xpressa hard phones work terrific, echotest is fine, and so on. The zaptel and wcfxs modules load fine, and show all 8 FXO interfaces in dmesg:

TS licensing problem on samba domain
Hello, We have recently joined a Windows Server 2008 R1 on our samba domain as a domain member. The samba domain controller runs Samba version 3.4.9 on FreeBSD 8.2. We use the Windows Server as a terminal server for our domain users who need an accounting application called Acomba. Therefore we have added TS User CALs to the server in question. The TS Licensing Server was activated and the

Suspicious activity on domain
Hello, Last week I have detected with Zabbix that a member of my Samba domain had been downloading at a rate of around 8 Mbps for two days and a half. When asking the person to whom belonged the machine, he didn't know he was downloading anything but he said he had observed his machine had slowed down since then. I took a tcpdump of the traffic before terminating his session on Windows
