Problem with a printer
I've got cups setup, to do the printwork. A setup, that was used with 2.2.3a
of samba (same smb.conf), but it fails with 2.2.5. When using smbclient or
the spoot client to connect to the samba printer resource, it tells me that
it's a bad network name. Any known issues?

Samba and unix permissions mismatch
I have just managed to get my first Samba/LDAP PDC up and running. But
I have one big security problem -- users logging in to the PDC using
ssh can access all shares.
User credentials, both for ssh login and for Samba access, are retrieved
from the LDAP directory. All shares are stored in the /var/lib/samba
directory. The directories permissions look like this:
drwxrwx--- 2 root Domain

CDR problems -- two call legs create only one CDR. Using ForkCDR() not even working.
Hello,
When I bridge an incoming and outgoing call (attempting to simulate
call-forwarding) I'm only getting one CDR -- that of the outgoing call.
A (PSTN) calls B (residing on Asterisk) and the Asterisk calls C (cell phone
on PSTN) and bridges the call.
The only CDR created is from B to C. I have even tried using Answer() and
ForkCDR() to get two CDRs, but to no avail.
I am starting to

Non-root accounts cannot join the Samba PDC:s domain
I have a Samba PDC with LDAP as its back end. It works perfectly
except for one major detail: Non-root users cannot join the Samba PDC.
I change the domain on Windows XP clients like this:
1. Log in as administrator on an Windows XP client
2. Change domain with Control Panel -> System -> Computer name ->
"Change..." and in the Domain field, I enter the name of the Samba

Have profile dir permanently mounted
I have a sambaserver running as PDC for a smaller windows domain.
Because of growing inbox'es I believe roaming profiles in time
will not be a good solution, so instead I want the profile dir for the
domain users to permanently reside on a samba share.
Is it not advisable to do that? I guess it will introduce problems if a
user logs on from more than one client at the same time. However that

Foreign SID's and winbind use default domain

Hi
In the Samba HOWTO (ch. 24 section 24.3.2) is written
"When winbind is used, the default condition is
that the local user george will be treated as the account DOMAIN\george
and the foreign (non-member of the domain) account will be treated as
MACHINE\george because each has a different SID."

impossible to join domain - smbldap-useradd -w "%u" is buggy
Hello all! I have spent a lot of time chasing down what I think is a
bug in smbldap-tools. It seems like many other people have experienced
the same problem too. It was pretty hard to triage so I'm writing it
down here.
The symptom of the problem is that Windows machines cannot join your
Samba+LDAP PDC. When you try to change the domain Windows pops up a
dialog box saying "no such

Win 95 login fails
Hi !
I've set up a samba server (2.0.3-8) on a machine running RH 6.1.
Everything works fine.
Printing, smbclient and so on..
But when i try to login from a win95 client, it says "there's no domain server
to confirm the password"..
And when i look in the logs. ( .log ), it says:

Winbindd and idletimeout on the LDAP server
Hi
We have a problem with samba (winbind) when we enable idletimeout on the
OpenLDAP servers. If it is set we sometimes get an error:
mhansen@scenic32:~> smbclient -Umhansen //cups/p6
Password:
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT
The log entries (log.wb-DOMAIN)on the DOMAIN MEMBER server (cups in this
case) are:

[LLVMdev] instruction writing two successive registers
hi,
the architecture that we are compiling for has a special vector shuffle
instruction, which writes two successive registers (Rn and Rn+1).
i have defined intrinsics to generate the instruction, and a special
register class for the register pairs. in addition i have two EXTRACT
operations which allow to access either the first or second subregister
of a pair (using moves). the pair register

two small wishes (with code sugegstions) for R-core
Dear R developers,
It would be great if you could implement the two minor code changes suggested below, which would help processing large objects in R.
Jens Oehlschl?gel
# Wish no. 1: let [.AsIs return the class AFTER subsetting, not the class of the original object
# Wish no. 2: adjust write.csv and write.csv2 for multiple calls in chunked writing
# Rationale no. 1: a couple of packages

Odd one way RTP on SIP to SIP calls
Hi everyone,
I'm having an odd problem with one way RTP on SIP to SIP calls.
I have two SIP servers, one is an Asterisk and the remote SIP server
is a Nortel SIP server.
When a call comes to the Nortel server through the PSTN and is routed
to the Asterisk, audio is fine. Two way RTP and no problems. When a
SIP client registered on the Nortel server calls the Asterisk, the

1.6.1.10 Music On Hold
Hello.
I just upgraded from 1.6.0.9 to 1.6.1.10 and it seems that the Music On Hold
functionality has changed (or is bugged?).
I have Aastra 6757i and Aastra 6731i phones, and now when i press the
MusicOnHold button / change lines on the phone, MOH no longer starts. It did
this in v 1.6.0.9.
The invites received are exactly the same, only 1.6.1.10 doesn't ever start
MOH.
Is there some

refuse login from more then one machine at a time.
Hello listers,
I am using samba 3.0.24 on Ubuntu. I need to deny users from logging on
to the domain and any shares from more then one machine. The users are
now able to login, walk over to another machine and log in again user the
same username and password for as many machines as they like. I do want
them to be able to login to any machine on the network so deny hosts won?t

No full administrator-permissions on local machines with samba 3 domain login
hi,
does anybody know about the following situatuion and it's solution ? we
configured an samba3 as pdc - sure in the way it was often described. but if
we login on a windowsXP as domainmember (member of the admin group) it seems
like we do not really have full administrator-permissions. we can add useres
and can do some other tasks only an administraor is allowed to do. but some

Getting two mails.....
When I receive a mail that is addressed to my email address and also with a cc to a mailinglist I subscribe to, I
get two mails, which I guess is expected... But I have just moved to Dovecot from Cyrus, and Cyrus seems to know
that this is the same mail, so only one of those two mail is stored on the imap srv...
Is there some option I am missing in Dovecot or isn't this possible using

Samba and connections to LDAP timeout
Hi
We have an all SAMBA Domain (all samba-3.0.23d) running with two
OpenLDAP servers (2.3.27).
We experience quite a few NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUTs when using smbclient.
Windows clients just experience delays (up to several minutes).
I've done some debugging:
On the client i issue:
smbclient -Umhansen //lfs1/mhansen
lfs1 is a domain member server.
On lfs1 (log level 10) i get the following in
