files on shared ntfs-disk in linux-pc are not accessible
Hi, I have spent the entire evening, trying to access a ntfs-drive in my linux-box from my WinXP-Notebook but I just can't get it to work (and it's 3:50 a.m. now!) I have put a 160GB harddisk into a linux box (LFS 5.1.1, console only) and mounted it: /dev/hdd1 /mnt/toffi ntfs ro,uid=christoph,gid=christoph,umask=022 0 0 To check wether the data on the disk is ok, I then put in a

domU custom kernel: Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.
Hello, To compile a custom kernel, I downloaded 2.6.29.1 from kernel.org and followed the tutorial at: http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/Kernel.org_Linux_on_Xen Used a supposedly working .config file for the compilation (generated by my provider to compile his xenU kernels), set /dev/xvd* device nodes both in the domU conf file (disk, root): disk = [

[PATCH v8 1/6] reiserfs: Switch to security_inode_init_security()
From: Roberto Sassu <roberto.sassu at huawei.com> In preparation for removing security_old_inode_init_security(), switch to security_inode_init_security(). Commit 572302af1258 ("reiserfs: Add missing calls to reiserfs_security_free()") fixed possible memory leaks and another issue related to adding an xattr at inode creation time. Define the initxattrs callback

Bug#609517: xen-utils-3.2-1: Pygrub can't find grub.conf in a reiserfs partion on amd64 arch
Package: xen-utils-3.2-1 Version: 3.2.1-2 Severity: normal Tags: patch Hi, There is a bug xen-3-3.2.1/tools/libfsimage/reiserfs/fsys_reiserfs.c, it is using "unsigned long" which is 64 bits on amd64 arch and 32 bits on i386 arch. This makes pygrub can't work on reiserfs on amd64 arch. You can easily reproduce it. A patch is included for fixing this problem. diff

Add swap support to fstype, second version

Ext4 improvements
Please be patient with my ignorance if what I am asking is meaningless in any way. I am not too technically knowledgeable about filesystem internals but I am willing to learn. (I thought of posting to linux-ext4 but did not want to intrude within the technical threads with my layman thread.) reiserfs and ext3 in 2.2.20
I am trying to compile 2.2.20 with both ext3 and reiserfs (to easily migrate from reiserfs to ext3 :-) All patches merge nicly, but compile fails because "buffer_journaled" is defined by both reiserfs and ext3. I looked at the "2.2.14 ext3 + reiserfs incompatibility"-thread on the kernel list and figured out that renaming "buffer_journaled" in fs/buffer.c and

Desktop Filesystem Benchmarks in 2.6.3
Unfortunately it is a bit more complex, and the truth is less complementary to us than what you write. Reiser4's CPU usage has come down a lot, but it still consumes more CPU than V3. It should consume less, and Zam is currently working on making writes more CPU efficient. As soon as I get funding from somewhere and can stop worrying about money, I will do a complete code review, and

Samba on ReiserFS
Dear Listmembers, I try to work with samba (newest rpm for SuSE, 3.0.1.pre2, but that does not matter, the effect was there in 2.2.7 and 2.2.8a too) on an sufficient armed system (the system does not matter either, I have tried it on different machines) using ReiserFS (version 3.6.4-12). When accessing one share from one machine (i.e. copying two or more files at a time to or from the share)
