jitterbuffer causes flaky IAX2 incoming connections?
I've been having problems with incoming IAX2 calls - some work, but a large fraction are answered with "dead air" or disconnects from my IAX provider. Disabling the jitterbuffer seems to eliminate the problem (so far)! Has anyone else seen this? I'm using 1.2.6, but I'm not sure what my provider is using. A snippet of the a failed incoming call IAX2 debug is attached

Samba shares slow
Hi, I am running Samba version 3.0.22 for a small office where the clients are windows 2k and XP machines. basically everything works OK and the only problem I am facing now is that it takes ages before windows opens samba shares. I tried turning off web client in win xp which helped a little but it is still too slow. It takes almost 7 minutes to copy a 2G file to a windows machine from linux

Convince me to buy TextMate!
I got a Powerbook recently and am debating buying TextMate. I installed the trial and have checked it out, but don''t see what''s so great about it. AFAICS it''s the Ruby and Rails macros for expansion and other stuff that might be it. Other than that, TextMate seems like a pretty basic editor. I currently use PSPad and Editplus, and I could probably get/make macros

Open-sourced: OpenCL-based multiphysics simulation software package
Dear CentOS community, we would like to announce the recent open-source release of our GPU-enabled multiphysics software - Advanced Simulation Library. http://asl.org.il/ Here are some remarkable benchmarks: http://asl.org.il/benchmarks/multicomponent_flow/ I hope that it will be included in CentOS as a package in some near future (you may join the volunteers from Fedora's SciTech SIG) but

intervals in lme() and ill-defined models
There has been some recent discussion on this list about the value of using intervals with lme() to check for whether a model is ill-defined. My question is, what else can drive very large confidence intervals for the variance components (or cause the error message "Error in intervals.lme(Object) : Cannot get confidence intervals on var-cov components: Non-positive definite approximate

%user hack still available ?
hi, does anybody know, if the famous "//server/share%user - hack" is still included in the latest sources? Does it lie dormant somewhere there and can be included by some "#def" ? Or does anybody know of a windows 95/98 gui/commandline-tool, where you can enter the password AND username to connect to a share ? Thanks in advance for your help. Solon

lan manager on OS2 and samba
Hi, I am running suse 64amd v9.1 fully patched using samba with the view to convert from a current old OS2 setup. There is a requirement to have samba available to winnt, win2k clients as well as some OS2 clients. Having built the box and set up samba as I would for a normal windows/linux setup, I am now having problems with samba being available to the lan manager clients. The NT and w2k

extended attributes, samba and OS2
Hi, I appologise if this totally irritates people as there seems to be quite a lot of info about this issue but a lot of it is quite old, for samba 2.x and kernels around 2.0 also. I have been beating my head against it for a little while - bumped into a dead end now ;( I am running centos-3 x86_64 (RH ES equiv) with samba 3.0.7-1 as the server, and OS2 as the client. Kernel is 2.4.21-20.EL.

Samba and OS2 changeover
Here is the deal.. My company is currently running all of there file shares on an OS2 box that is attached to our as400. This has caused many problems with the as400 so we are going to move over to using Samba for file storage / network run applications. My question is this. I am planning to "clone" all the shares on our OS2 box with the Samba server that I have created, turn off the

Encrypted passwords and OS2/Win95/Win98
My LAN is running Samba v1.9.18p10 under RedHat Linux v5.2. Using the SMB services are Win95 and OS/2 clients. It's all running fine. I will soon be adding Win98, though, and I understand that there is a question of password encryption. I'm concerned how the encrypted/plain-text communication of password will affect my existing configuration. If I reconfigure Samba to use encrypted

Change winbindd UID mapping
Hi, I'm running Samba 3.6.6 on Ubuntu Quantal. I have a need to manually assign some of the UID mapping on a samba domain member file server. I have used tdbtool to add the correct mapping record to winbindd_idmap.tdb. However, I am at a loss as to how to force that change to "propagate" so as to show in the permissions structure of the file system and in the output of such

samba 3.06rc2, suse 64amd and os2
Hi, I am having a lot of trouble with getting 0s2 to talk with samba. They seem to be making the right noises at handshake time, and seem to set up a session no problems (using ethereal, monitoring packets). However, when it comes to actually transferring information (such as doing a listing of a share from the os2 box) it crashes with the error: Open AndX Request, Path: \OSO001.MSG; Read

Poor performance getting lots of small files with WinXP/Win2k vs OS2
Hi, We're doing some of performance tests with Linux Samba v3. We're comparing WinXP/Win2k clients vs OS2 clients accessing a samba server. For one test, we're coping 10.000 small files. Let's say, we run the command copy \\sambaserver\10000files\*.* c:\data\10000files With an OS2 client it takes 23 seconds to complete. With an Windows client it takes 460 seconds to complete.

SAMBA 3.0.1 Client for OS/2 and eCS
Hi all, I'm happy to announce that we ported the latest SAMBA Client to OS/2 and eCS. It is not a 1:1 port of the Unix stuff, we implemented it as a NetDrive Plugin which is a very handy way on OS/2 to map network drives. We also plan to port SAMBA Server in a second stage. For sure the full source is released under the GPL, including our NetDrive plugin. You can get the binaries and the
