INSTALL script does not handle spaces in pathnames correctly (PR#242)
Full_Name: Lyndon Drake
Version: Version 0.65.0 Under development (unstable) (August 07, 1999)
OS: Linux 2.2.2
Submission from: (NULL) (202.14.102.52)
I was attempting to install the DSE package from a directory whose
pathname includes spaces. The INSTALL script interprets spaces in
the pathname as a separator. For example:

RedHat 6.0 RPM of R
Hi,
One of my lecturers is putting together an applications CD to go with RedHat 6.0
with stuff he thinks would be useful for his students. He wants to put R on it,
but he's having trouble compiling R and using an RPM on RH 6.0. It appears to
be either kernel or glibc related, but I don't have the time right now to figure
out what the problem is (exams...).
Does anyone have an RPM of R

APC Back-UPS CS and ES series
I'm using FreeNAS 9.1, and I've just got an APC Back-UPS CS 500. In theory it's supported by NUT, but the latest released version (2.6.5) doesn't have support for it (the driver reports an error, which is apparently due to an overflow). According to a thread on the mailing list, Back-UPS ES series requires a fix that's in source control, and CS series requires an additional

spatial corStruct in lme
Hi,
I'm fitting a relatively simple growth model to some forest plot data. Two
species of trees were planted in different mixtures in 10 (nearly-adjacent)
plots and measured on four occasions over 10 years. The model is
constructed in terms of the diameter increments (per year; DI) in the 3
intervals, in which DI is modelled as a function of mid-interval D and DSQ.
The details of the

getting cd_plot in vcd package to work with layout
Hi,
I'm trying to get 2x2 (or other layouts) of cd_plot from the vcd package. I
have tried the usual commands like layout, par(mfrow...) etc and but cd_plot
seems to ignore them and send the plotting window back to 1x1. I have also
tried turning off the pop and newpage options in cd_plot but I still can't
get multiple cd_plots into a plotting window.
Any suggestions would be greatly

Unfortunately, this doesn't help.
Let's drop the hangup handler at the moment, and focus on the "saving to
file" part.
Then my issue is I can't update CDR value is hangup exten.

Named numeric vectors with the same value but different names return different results when used as thresholds for calculating true positives
Dear List,
I have encountered an odd problem that I cannot understand. It stems
from the calculation of true and false positives based on two input
vectors x and y based on different thresholds of x, extracted using
the quantile function. I am in certain cases getting different values
of true positives for the same threshold value when the threshold was
found under different quantiles (e.g. the

Gnome interface status report
Hi,
The Gnome version now compiles, and it should also be working (at least as much as it
ever has). I've changed Makefile.in to the new system, which is very cool. What I
want to work on now is:
- Graphics. I want to move to the Gnome canvas for this, which should be reasonably
easy. This will give us rotated text (which I never got going properly before) and

I want to Connect to IBM MQ from Rails/Ruby, can it be done? and get the

Is there a direct way of doing the above job?? If so any packages are

If there is not a way currently, and any thoughts of how we can do the

celebrating revision 50000
Hello,
Today, Brian Ripley commited the revision 50000 of R's svn repository.
I took this as an opportunity to do some data analysis of the log and
posted some code and graphics on my blog:

Play a number of files to a caller
I want to be able to allow a caller to dial a ddi, system to verify
identity etc (this is all done)
I then want them to sit listening to music, until an event happens.
When this (external) event happens, I want to play a certain file to
the caller, using playback (so that they have ff / rw etc), and when
finished, go back to the music.
1) I thought of redirecting to an extension that played the
