Question on gems on Mac OSX
Hi all,
lately I''ve been working with ROR on a MAC OSX tiger at work, however I
have one huge problem with seems to be the root of all my problems
whenever I use terminal or iTerm to start workign with ROR. Every
single time I open a new terminal window or close one and open a new
one, I have to reapply my path from .bash_login for Ruby and MySql, and
than I have to install the

R: Some libraries and ideas for a 'librarified' R
Well, I think the better solution would be to put them on the web: I tried
to open two web pages but I forget the possword every time :-(.
I see 2 quick solutions:
- send the files via e-mail
- put the files on CRAN (where?);
However I can do these in 2-3 days only (I have sources home).

PCA analysis, presence-absence of mammals in parks
Hi everyone,
So I am trying to see which ecological parameter of different parks in nyc
influence the most the diversity of the medium-sized mammals in those parks.
I have a bunch of different parameters for each park I'm done studying and
the presence (1) and absence (0) of each mammal. I wanted to do a principal
component analysis of those data to know which ones of those parameters are

ks.test (PR#1004)
The note to 1004 says "fixed for 1.3.1"
Uh. No. It ain't.
The problem was more serious than guessed as even the simplest testing
would show.

[Patch] Fix NAME variable in subnet-* scripts for local subnets.
Hi,
attached is a patch that fixes that the NAME variable in subnet-up/down
scripts for local subnets is not set. The reason for this was that there
was a "hole" in the envp array in src/subnet.c:subnet_update(). If the
subnet was local, envp[6] was NULL and the evaluation stoped there.
Actually, the name string was leaking. This is easily fixed by changing the
order in the array.

One domain w/ multiple subnets. Do a "join" for each subnet?
We've got Samba 2.2.2 up and running fine on an RS/6000 (AIX) machine w/ NT
authentication. We have one domain w/ multiple subnets, and need users on
these different subnets to have access to the shares on this machine.
We've tested from a different subnet than the one we originally ran
smbpasswd on, and it fails (prompting for the passwd to the share...when it

default Bind on CentOS 4.4 and reverse DNS subnets issue?
Anybody knows if the Bind version on CentOS 4.4 (9.2.4) has issues with
doing reverse DNS for subnets? (networks smaller than /24)
I keep a reverse DNS /26 subnet on Bind 9.3.1 (Fedora) and it works fine.
I've a /27 subnet on CentOS 4 (bind 9.2.4), exactly the same config just
different subnets and addresses, and it does not work. I do a "dig

Two class C subnets...
Hi!, I''m getting nuts with this so I really need your help...
I have a network in the 192.168.100.0/24 class C with the gw in
192.168.100.1, all the company works great with that scenario but now
we need to add more class C networks, now this is what I have:
2: eth0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast qlen 1000
link/ether 00:08:a1:53:6d:51 brd

One tc filter police for 2 subnets
I´d like to limit input traffic from 2 subnets. Ex. 128Kbps for the two
subnets: 10.0.0.0/24 10.0.1.0/24
Like:
tc filter add dev eth3 parent ffff: protocol ip prio 5 u32 match ip src
10.0.0.0/24 ; 10.0.1.0/24 police rate 128kbit burst 10k drop flowid :1
Obviously this command did not work because tc does not accept two subnets
as src separeted by ";".
Is there a way of doing this ?

Force internal re-routing for certain subnets
Hi list,
I have an ipcop 1.3.0 with one regular ip address on its green
(internal) interface 172.25.0.1 with one subnet 172.25.0.0/22 related to
it.
In addition I have assigned two further ip addresses 172.25.64.1. and
172.25.68.1 to right that green network card with two respective further
subnets 172.25.64.0/22 and 172.25.68.0/22 related to each for certain
reasons.
Now I want to force all

two subnets
Hello,
My server is on Mandrake 10.1 off.
eth0 is WAN with static IP connected 512 DSL
eth1 is LAN.
I have NAT working on 192.168.0.0.
I want to feed a second subnet 192.168.21.0.
What is the best way to implement it ?
Thanks

[slightly OT] Calculating subnets
My home lan is 192.168.174.240/29 so that I have 192.168.174.240 as net,
192.168.174.247 as broadcast and space for 6 hosts (have 2 PC and one
router).
Now I would like to edit the rfc1918 file in order to exclude this range
from the list.
What is the way to compute the most compact notation to say that only
192.168.0.0-192.168.174.239 and 192.168.174.248-192.168.255.255 are to

Listing the subnets in a zone
We have a Shorewall installation which has a cron job that dynamically adds
and deletes subnets to/from a zone during the day. We want to be able to
list which subnets are currently in the zone at any one time. Initially we
were parsing the output of "shorewall status", which works but can be very
slow. Looking at the output of "shorewall status", it seems that the
subnets we

winbindd: wins, bcast and subnets and ways to get across those
I run two samba servers in a pure windows 2000 environment. I
have two subnets: A server subnet and a client subnet, and one
samba server stands in each one of them.
My windows admins tell me that they do not run a wins server or a
pdc-emulator on their machines. I run winbind successfully in the
server subnet but fail to do so in the client subnet.

Some guidelines on remote samba-only NT subnets with NT PDC
I am investigating putting samba servers at our ISDN connected remote
sites. We have an NT PDC as well as a large samba file server at our
central site. This system would replace the existing remote NT BDC
setup which requires many visits from the NT administrators.
Are there any guidelines on what samba and NT settings work best in
this environment?
For example:

Asterisk 1.6.1-rc1 with OpenAIS and different subnets
Hi List,
im running a test server with the 1.6.1-rc1-release of * and OpenAIS. Asterisk
is configured so far and running stable. Now i set up a second server to test
the distributed devstate. In a cluster on the same subnet it's no problem. But
we have a customer who wants that feature for checking telephones on two branch
offices connected over vpn-tunnels. According to that we have

Slow printing between subnets
Hi everyone
I am currently experiencing a number of win xp pro users experiencing slow
printing when access a CUPS/Samba server across 2 subnets. I have noticed
that prior to requesting prints, the printers are in a not ready state. When
a request is made it takes around 2 minutes before the print is processed.
The pc also hangs

Samba/nmbd on strange-sized subnets
Here where I work, we have a strange-sized subnet of a class B network.
The netmask is 255.255.248.0 (/21 shorthand). This seems to not mesh well
with Samba. nmbd seems to only want to listen either to the bigger class B
network, or the single IP address that the ethernet card is allocated.
I've tried setting the `interfaces' parameter in smb.conf and enabling
`bind interfaces

Hi People,
Im using nmblookup from linux box to determine the IP of given of a machine
from its netBIOSName. "nmblookup" seems to work find within a single subnet,
but when looking up machines on different subnets I run into trouble.
I have tried:
Nmblook -B <subnet> netBIOSName, but that still does not help.
Am I doing something wrong? Any help or ideas would be much

Browse lists from other workgroups across subnets
I have problems to get browse lists from other workgroups across subnets.
On win95 network neighbourhood I have a complete list form all computers
in the same workgroup (including computers located on an other subnet) and
a workgroup list. But if I try to look at the computers on an other
workgroup I get an error message: workgroup not available.
The subnet has an samba server (2.0.3) configured
