winbind running in PDC Samba server
Hello,
HOWTO chapter 21 describes the use of winbind daemon in a Samba domain
member Server, but it's possible (and desirable) to run winbind in a PDC
Samba server? The question is due to it that in that case it seems it is not
necessary winbind for authenticate/mapping users against a external WinNT4
PDC, the Samba PDC perform authentication itself (and the mapping its not
necessary, because

cluster results using fanny
Hi,
I am using fanny and I have estrange results. I am wondering if
someone out there can help me understand why this happens.
First of all in most of my tries, it gives me a result in which each
object has equal membership in all clusters. I have read that that
means "the clustering is entirely fuzzy". Looking at the graphics it
is really difficult to understand how objects with so

printing from graphics window in R-1.5.0 on WinNT
Dear R-help,
I've encountered a problem using R-1.5.0 compiled from source on WinNT4. If
I make a plot on the windows graphics device, and then select "File ->
Print...", nothing happens. (I'd expect to see a printer selection dialog
box opened, which is what happens with R-1.4.1 and earlier compiled from
source.) Doing ctrl-p doesn't work either. Copying to

Dear R-help,
(This is the first time I tried compiling 1.6.x from source on WinNT4, so
please bear with me...)
I tried following the instruction in src/gnuwin32/INSTALL as closely as I
could, but encounter the following errors at the make step. Can some kind
soul please help? I'm using pcre-3.9 and MinGW-2.0.0-3. I checked and
libRpcre.a _is_ in src/extra/pcre.

Multi-user multi-company design
I am working on a site which tracks "ferms" (read: widgets)... each
ferm belongs to one company, one company can have many ferms.
One company can also have many users with different access priveliges,
and company administrators would invite other users to access the
company''s site.
Also, one user can belong to different companies and perhaps have
different access at each

At 4 a.m. it finally worked...Samba 3, interdomain trust, ldap, winbind
I spent a solid two weeks trying to make a RH 9 with Samba 3 PDC operate the
way I wanted it to in a domain that includes an NT 4.0 PDC. Early this
morning, the NT user dogbreath belonging to the NT group mongrels was able
to log into the NT PDC, map to the big_ugly_dogs share on the Samba machine,
copy a file there, open it in OpenOffice 1.1.0, edit it, save it and then
delete it. All of this was

Plot
Hello,
I am trying to make a plot of the rates of an enzyme against three different protein concentrations (there are 45 rates in total and split up into 3 groups of 15, each receiving one of the 3 protein concentrations). When I enter the following code I instead get 3 separate boxplots for each of the three different protein concentrations ...

[Bridge] Re: Bridge Digest, Vol 31, Issue 6
Hello
You must add first:
vlan (tagged) to eth2
eth2 interface is not tagged by default and not know vlan-s .
It is like a cisco if you have 24 ports in cisco by default all ports
are in vlan1. if you want to do trunk (with vlans) you myst add (vlans)
to this ports (tagged or untagged)
So you can compare that all interfaces in linux by default are in one
vlan(but not tagged). (only for

Mail Problems...
Hi... After all our work trying to authenticate sendmail via Winbind, we have a weird problem right now... The user authentication, and the connection to both POP3 and SMTP is very slow, except for my own computer, that works very fast... And my computer is the only one in 1000+ clients... FYI, I use Outlook Express 6, but everyone at my office use it also... So, I don't think the problem is

WinNT authentication problem
I am a newbie here and I have been going around in circles with this problem.
I have set up samba to use encrypted p/w and use a WinNT4 sp4 client with
registry changed for plaintextpasswords.
I can 'map network drive' successfully and peruse all the shares but if I try
to use the 'Network Neighborhood', then I can see the shares (so I guess that I
have been authenticated

Re: R-help Digest, Vol 2, Issue 26
With the same system configuration (WinNT4 SP6 and 1.7.0), I get such a Dr
Watson crash each time I try to use the Change dir... command in the File
menu of Rgui.exe. I doesn't seems to happen if I do this immediately after
starting R but well if I already did some computation.
I don't have any problem by using directly setwd().

crash using bmp() on windows with Rdll2010 (PR#756)
A few weeks ago I have updated R-1.1.1 for Windows with the fixed R.dll
(Rdll2010.zip) for Win2k from CRAN.
(I have used the same version of R from WinNT4 *and* Win2k for some
time.)
Now I tried to produce a bitmap, but R crashes (WinNT4):
bmp("bitmap.bmp")
plot(1:10)
dev.off() ## crash!
That does not happen with the original R.dll from R-1.1.1 (15 Aug 2000).
I cannot test on

PB upgrade to samba 2.0
After I have upgraded from previous version to 2.0, I don't manage to
authenticate from clients (winnt4) to DigitalUnix3.2c with Samba
anymore. Before the upgrade it worked fine. After the upgrade, my
password is rejected.
It's really a authentication problem because it works fine if I add
"guest ok = yes".
On the server I have: security = share

on the win98 and NT. Rsync is version 2.4.6 Is it just because Win9x

PATCH: OS SSE support detection for GCC on Windows
libFLAC for Windows compiled with GCC/MinGW can't detect SSE OS support:
it can't use GCC+Linux detection code and can't use MSVC+Win32 code that
uses SEH (__try/__except). So it doesn't use any SSE/SSE2/etc routines.
One way to fix it is to call configure script with --enable-sse
(flac will probably crash on Win95/WinNT4 but who cares).
Another way is to add a new code just for
