How does one change a passwd with Samba
How does a Window's user change thier password on a Unix based Samba server. I know they can login to the unix box and use smbpasswd(8). But these users are MS Windows users and I hate to have to explain what a command prompt looks like. Unfortunately I don't know enough Windows. Is there such a client feature built into the Windows, how do they do it against a PDC? If no solution is

lme4 question
Hello, I am trying to run the following model: domi ~ type*ratio+((1|id)+(0+type|id)+(1|face_id)+(1|car_id)) My question is whether the data coding for "face_id" and "car_id" variables is correct. As you see on the following sample data structure, "type" is repeated measure where 1=car, 0=face. Thus, I coded "face_id" as "0" when the type is 1

Rcmd problems and questions, lazyloading
Hola! I got past the problems I asked about two days ago, thanks. No I am updating CRAN package asypow (the daily package check on CRAN gave warnings due to .Rd problems, fixed). Now it PASSED Rcmd check (WindowsXP home edition, rw2000dev, on a new toshiba laptop, if that matters.) but then Rcmd build --binary gives problems: . . . preparing package asypow for lazy loading Error in

create an object list in a loop
Hi! Probably I perform this question because I did'nt still understand the R-philosophy. I have to build many matrix, with different dimensions, and I would to assign them a same 'prefix' name, i.e. "aval", but, obviuosly different suffix, something like: for (i in 1:n) { aval%i% <- matrix(scan(data....),nrow=nr[i],ncol=nc[i] ... } where "%i%"

Polycom Soundpoint 500
I have a Polycom Soundpoint IP 500 that I have been using with Asterisk for a few weeks. It has been working OK, no major problems other than a freeze up every now and then, until today. The power apparently went out last night and for some reason the phone appears to be working but I keep getting the following errors repeating over and over in my Asterisk log file (IP's X'ed out): Aug

Diffrerence in "%in%" function to boundry setting via <>
Hi, There is a point which is irritating me currently quite a bit and that is an aspect of different behaviour between the %in% function and the smaller/bigger than signs (<>). Here is are two examples to demonstrate what I mean: Example1: > c(1,1,2,2,3,4,4,6,7) %in% c(1,2,3) [1] TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE FALSE FALSE FALSE FALSE Right, that is what I expect. Example2: > ps

backup
I just installed samba4 on ubuntu 14.04 from de repositories: # samba --version Version 4.1.6-Ubuntu I wanted to make a backup but *samba_backup* was missing, so I download 4.1.7 using Git and configured it. The problem is it isn't working, tar is stopping because it refuses to create and empty file. I tracked it to the second *tar* in the script, and *echoed* it: # samba_backup

I have set up my samba server to act as the domain controller of my domain. When I try to join a windows workstation to this domain, the machine can actually see the domain but when I type in my root and root password, I get the message "wrong Usename or password" When I change encrypt password option to NO option, the message "Account not allowed to be used in this workstation

How to properly read "zpool iostat -v" ? ;)
Hello experts, I''ve had a lingering question for some time: when I use "zpool iostat -v" the values do not quite sum up. In the example below with a raidz2 array made of 6 drives: * the reported 33K of writes are less than two disks'' workload at this time (at 17.9K each), overall disks writes are 107.4K = 325% of 33K. * write ops sum up to 18 = 225% of 8 ops to

DNS update - NT_STATUS_IO_TIMEOUT every 10 minutes
I have an unusual problem that I can't seem to figure out. As a background I had to rebuild my Samba4 AD DC from scratch, since my USB stick went out. The Samba4 AD DC is now running on a Raspberry Pi with the root file system on an external USB hard drive. It also has an email server using postfix/dovecot/spamassassin on it too. It's very cool to have an AD DC and email server
