SaMBa 2.2.1a in HP/UX 11.00
Hullo All I hjave a problem with SaMBa 2.2.1a with HP/UX 11.00. It seems to work fine, but after a couple hours users received a message in Windows (all 95) like that ... "There were no servers to log you into", or something like that (Win95 Brazilian Portuguese). It seems like it can't find the domain master server... Below is my smb.conf... Samba PDC + LDAP: adding user to local admin group
Hi all, I'm evaluating Zimbra [1] as the groupware server for my small company. It uses OpenLDAP for authentication services and I'm configuring a Samba server as a PDC for my company, using the same ldap backend. So far, so good, everything is working beautifully well, I can add computers to the domain, login from any workstation, access shares with the appropriate rights and so on.

apply to this (security=domain) case, since auth is via the PDC. So, shouldn't winbind_lookup_sid() be succeeding. Should I be trying to track the failure in that code? In case it's helpful, ldd /usr/sbin/smbd shows: libdl.so.2 => /usr/lib/libdl.so.2 (0x40017000) libnsl.so.1 => /lib/libnsl.so.1 (0x4001a000) libpam.so.0 => /lib/libpam.so.0 (0x40030000) libc.so.6 =>

Any experience with lanner appliances?
Hi, anybody has installed CentOS on an lanner appliance...? Eg. http://www.lannerinc.com/products/all-purpose-box-computers/industrial-automation/lec-2126 I was planning to buy an hp microserver to make a "small" CentOS firewall (and more since it is overpowered), but I am wondering if I could go for a lot smaller and with no fan/noise... but at the same time a bit more expensive...

RES: Tuning SaMBa in HP/UX 10.20 (200 Users)...
I'm running SaMBa 2.2.3a, compiled by myself... I heard a long time ago in this list that you can reduce the size of the binaries by recompiling the source, whit some new variables... But I don't know what are they... Browsing
I am configuring Linux (2.0.33) as a local router. I am wanting to use Samba (1.9.18p3) to "manage" the browse lists on my network so that computers on each subnet can browse resources on the other subnets. My local network consists of Win95 and NT40 workstations with NT40 servers. My test configuration consists one token ring segment on one side of the Samba box (network .192) and

Winbind Question...
Hullo All, Just a simple question... I planning have an HPUX Server with SaMBa 2.2.3a and Winbind running to allow WinNT users to login in the server. As far as I know, when WinNT is down, Winbind doesn't authenticate the users. OK, is there any chance to Winbind store users in a cache, or something like that? Firewall/Gateway Hardware Question
I've given up on getting the other machine to work so I'm looking at building a new one. The machine will be a firewall/gateway running NAT, Web Proxy with Dansguardian, DHCP, DNS, NTP and VPN (~6 clients). I read so much about VPN encryption and the processor needs, now I am unsure if this will work. I can get this for AMD FX-8120 Zambezi 3.1GHz Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Desktop
