Samba 3, winbind, win2k AD: Kerberos question
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi folks, after a little head banging, I got winbind chatting with the domain control ( win2k server ) by hard coding my realm info into krb5.conf. My question is this: Is there a cleaner, more fault tolerant method than this? I googled, and read about dns srv records being used ( intead of hardcoding ), which I understand win2k uses to begin with,

Re: FW: SAMBA+ACL+XFS
Paul, Your samba does have ACLs support built-in. Please check that your system has the ACLs support libraries. Since you are using kernel 2.4.x you need to have the bestbits acls support libraries installed on your machine. Check the documentation for XFS to see how to mount the XFS file system so it has ACLs support. You should manually be able to set POSIX ACLs using the setfacls utility.

voicepulse "silence" during conversations
Hi all, I'm running Asterisk 1.0.0. I am a customer ( and supporter ) of voicepulse. For me, it works perfectly, but one of my customers noticed a small problem: During a conversation, when the otherside isn't talking, it's almost like the mic turns off. Not that big of a deal I know, and the more I think about it, the more this seems a voicepulse issue. But in the off

Hypothetical IAX2 situation
Two * servers: *a and *b. Outside call comes in *b, and is automatically routed to *a. Someone on a sip phone connected to *a then decides to transfer the call to someone on a sip phone connected to *b. The transfer works. At this point, is *a still in the converstation? Or is * smart enough to see where the data stream is going/coming from? Thanks for any help in advanced, and sorry if

Avaya Partner ACS system, pre 7.0
Hi all, I've got an old avaya partner acs <7.0 system here. I'd like to add a simple voip bridge so I can hook up our remote offices. From my research, it would seem the pre-7.0 series doesn't have a t1 port, so if I wanted to do this, I would have to feed the avaya system fxs ports from the asterisk box. Does that sound about right? Has anybody ever done this? Does

winbind pipe is where?
Hi folks, I've got a few machines that I want to setup winbind on, so they can auth their users against the AD win2k server I have here. On top of that, I want to map their home directories from one to a few others. So, I'll need to make sure their user databases are in sync. No problem, I thought, I'll just nfs map /var/cache/samba and be done with it. Well, as it turns out,

can we help with libvorbis release for CVE fixes?
Hi Ralph and libvorbis developers, I thought the vorbis gitlab project was the main development site (https://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/vorbis) because that's what the NVD CVE tracker points to for the two CVEs I mentioned. But I just realized there's also a vorbis github project (https://github.com/xiph/vorbis). Both appear to have recent activity. Is the gitlab project the correct one

Live Voip
Hi all, Before I setup an account with them, I'd like to hear other people's impression of LiveVoip. I'm considering using them for 800 numbers, and I'd like to feel comfortable that others here on the list have had good experiences with them. Thanks, sorry if this is the wrong list for this. :) Sena

can we help with libvorbis release for CVE fixes?
Ok, I wasn't able to track down the original steps to reproduce this issue,s but we believe CVE-2018-10393 is a dupiicate of CVE-2017-14160, both fixed by commit 018ca26dece6. Because of the confusion, I added additional bounds checks to the bark_noise_hybridmp function, which make it clear to local analysis that no for bugs in this class are possible. This change is in commit a9eb99a5bd6f.

can we help with libvorbis release for CVE fixes?
Yes, the gitlab instance is the correct upstream development repository. We maintain a mirror at github for the convenience of developers there. Giving user progress in an voice menu system
Hi all, I have a voice menu system ( Outlined below ), and I'd like to give the user some feedback when they dial an extension ( ringing, music, SOMETHING ). As it stands, when a user enters an extension from the menu system, they hear silence while the line rings. I even tried including the Ringing application before calling my macro to dial the phones, with no luck. Any help is

can we help with libvorbis release for CVE fixes?
Hi Ellen, Thanks for your kind offer to help the release along. We have indeed been having trouble finding resources for that. You can certainly help by testing the git master branch with your software and reporting any issues you find. Otherwise, triaging outstanding bug reports and patches is always helpful, although that's not essential for a security-based release. I'll try to find

new 1.3.7 and fix for CVE-2018-10392 (issue 2335)?
Hi Ralph, Again, thanks so much for doing all this! Plus thanks to all the folks who contributed to the new release! Quick clarifying question -- Isn't CVE-2018-10392 (looks like it’s fixed in https://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/vorbis/-/issues/2335) also included in new version 1.3.7? If so can you please add it to release notes? (I asked the same question in

can we help with libvorbis release for CVE fixes?
Hi Ralph, Thank you for your reply! For context -- we consider reported CVEs as bugs even if it's in a third-party library we use (such as libvorbis). We first determine if the CVE is something that would impact our customer workflows. In this case because of our use of libvorbis for audio I/O, it does impact our customers so we need to resolve the CVE as soon as possible. In the
