How to calculate exact bitrate/filesize w/ Vorbis? Plz help
Hi, I'm quite familiar w/ mp3 cbr/abr/vbr encoding, as well as mpeg4 (cbr/vbr,etc). And I can always calc the bit rate for a given file size with: file size * 8000 / length in seconds = kbits/sec Works great w/ mpeg4 + mp3. BUT FOR THE LIFE OF ME: I cannot get oggenc (1.0x version) to give me the file size I want. I calc. it with the above formula, and nothing comes out right. Then I do

How to measure the significant difference between two time series
Dear R experts and statisticians, I have some time series datasets, they are several years vegetation indices (about 50 data points per year) sampled from different station. These indices have similar dynamics with seasonal change. My questions are, 1) How can I compare the difference among the indices, and how can I say there is significant differnce between two time series. They

Plotting a linear model object with R 2.0 for Mac OS X
I'm using R for Mac OS X Aqua GUI version 2.0 When using plot() with a linear model object, the plot of the LSR line does not appear. I get the residual plots, the Normal Q-Q plots and Cook's Differnce plot, just not the first plot with the fitted line. I just get an empty Quartz window, with no graph displayed. I've even tried to use plot.lm() and plotting a glm object, but I get the

wins or windbind problem? - help please
I have four domains in my LAN. I set up trust relationships for the domains, having each PDC working as wins server for each domain but I hd not set up winbind. I have samba3-3.3.12 + ldap (openldap 2.4.21) as users backend. I mean, I have wins support = yes for each PDC, and I can access to the shared folders of each PDC from any windows computer from my LAN. The problem is accessing to

How to get time differences in consistent units?
I'm still having trouble getting to grips with time classes. I wish to calculate the difference in days between events. Browse[1]> insp.j$First [1] "2002-02-19 13:00:00 NZDT" Browse[1]> spray.j$Date [1] "2001-11-29 13:00:00 NZDT" Browse[1]> insp.jk - spray.j$Date Time difference of 82 days If I save insp.jk to a vector, I get a nice useful value of 82.

How to analyse simple study: Placebo-controlled (2 groups) repeated measurements (ANOVA, ANCOA???)
Hallo! I have two groups (placebo/verum), every subject is measured at 5 times, the first time t0 is the baseline measurement, t1 to t4 are the measurements after applying the medication (placebo or verum). The question is, if there is a significant difference in the two groups and how large the differnce is (95% confidence intervals). Let me give sample data # Data

Windbind requirements and settings
I posted this to comp.protocols.smb, but I'll give it a shot here too... Background : We have an existing Win2k domain, 2 Win2k domain controllers, all working just fine. I've been using Samba 2.2.x for quite a while to provide access to specific folders on *nix machines using Domain security...So I'm reasonably familiar with how file/print sharing works. But what I'm

Windbind auth
Hi, I was able to get my server in the domain. I can see it from ADUC and Network Places. But I can't get it to use AD to authenticate the users that want to access the server/share. Wbinfo -u and -g return the users and group of my MONTREAL domain. Net ads info also returns the correct information about my domain. I then tried to run getent passwd but that only returned the list of the

windbind and AD authentication - UPPER CASE usernames?
We're looking at using windbind and AD for our user account details but have run into a small snag. All user accounts in AD are upper case but our linux accounts are lower-case. Is there a simple solution we've overlooked? We really don't want to have to hack this... Thanx, Russell SMithies ======================================================================= Attention: The

using windbind to connect to AD
Hello, After a couple of years using Samba as a DC I figured I would start working it the other way around. I'm using CentOS, the latest and tried to use the GUI manager. I am sort of confused as there are acutally 2 windows. I filled out both and supplied the name of the AD administrator. Do I just put the AD domain in there with .realm after it? (eg testdomain.com.realm)? I tried with

users home folders, with windbind AD auth.
I am trying to map existing users to their old home folders (moved over from a windows box), I have authentication up and running great. And I have all my shares setup and working except for the users home folders. Does this look like a local permission issue? Any help is much appreciated, and thank you in advance for taking the time to read. The home directories are their usernames in

windbind, solaris and nsswitch.conf
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I've been unable to find any up-to-date information on the problem with solaris and winbind nsswitch.conf. It seems that Solaris doesn't like the winbind option in /etc/nsswitch.conf very much at all. When using the passwd program, it complains: <snip> # passwd pad passwd: Changing password for pad Supported configurations for passwd

Q: windbind, local groups and domain user membership?
Hi, I run a Fedora 2 box with Samba 3.0.10 as a domain member. The PDC is a Win server with AD. Running winbind, all domain users and groups are visible on the Samba box. To grant a special group of domain users access to parts of a samba share, I would like to - add a *local* group on the samba box (*not* in AD!) and - add some *domain* users to this new group. Unfortunately the trick of

Still no working windbind on Solaris9 - samba 3.4.9
Greetings, Was away from samba for a time, now trying again. I have this working under Solaris 10, but have not been able to get a functional samba Active Directort member server working on Solaris 9 since samba 3.2.15. Later versions Samba will serve file to PC clients, but not permit interactive logins to the host. I see messages like: ld.so.1: su: fatal: relocation error: file

how to let windbind to use LOCAL groupmaps?
Hi, I'm trying to join ?linux machines to AD domain with the help of winbind. In order to make account managent more easier, I want to create corresponding group maps from every linux native group, then join domain users/groups to the new LOCAL groupmap. At present, BUILTIN groupmap works fine with the steps: net groupmap add sid=S-1-5-32-544 unixgroup=admin ntgroup=BUILTIN\\Administrators

windbind configuration
Hi, OS: CentOS 6.3 Samba: 3.5.10-125.el6 winbindd: 3.5.10-125.el6 I have a standalone server with the above. I would like my Windows 7 users to have access to the shares but not have to create local accounts for them. I'm assuming winbindd does this for me. So far the samba set-up appears to work. I have joined the ADS domain. I can use wbinfo to authenticate users. wbinfo -a auser%321
