Permissions Problem on a share
Thank you, Rowland. :-) I understand my configuration is not optimal......i'm just a small-time operator trying to make do with my budget line item maximum. The good news is that samba 4 has been absolutely solid and seamless since the implementation in mid-July of 2015. Problem joing a W2KSP1 client to a Samba PDC (2.2.5).
Hi, I'am running a small samba server at work with 10+ users in the domain (all of them added with W2KSP1 and 2.2.3 or 2.2.4). I uppgraded to 2.2.5 a while back and has not experienced any problem with it, but when I try to add a newly installed W2KSP1 client to the domain I get the following entries in the log file: Sep 10 13:29:55 linus smbd[17681]: [2002/09/10 13:29:55, 0]

Windows XP SP2 (Official) and Samba 3
I've looked through the archives and the only information I can find regarding Windows XP SP2 is RC2. Has anyone out there had ANY experience with XP SP2 Official and a Samba 3 domain? -- Bert Rapp North Trail RV Center p 239.693.8200 f 239.693.8115

samba as PDC in FreeBSD
Hello all, I've set up samba as a PDC in FreeBSD 5.1-release. I seemed to have no problems joining my computer to the domain as it said "Welcome to the domain" but when I try and log in it says it can't contact the domain controller or the domain account doesn't exist. Can anyone offer any help on how to fix this? Here is my smb.conf. Kind regards, Elvar [global]

cpuspeed settings??
Hey, folks, Sometimes my workstation bogs down... slows to a crawl. Using gkrellm, it's obvious the CPU is the laggard. The top utility confirms: the load average gets up over 4 at times. But this occurs when cpu stepping pegs the speed at 600MHz. This processor is capable of 1.5GHz and when it's allowed to run at that speed, the load average is under 2, which is fine. So the

Samba 3.0.0 PDC, XP SP1, and domain joining woes.
Greetings, you kind and wonderful people. I've spent the past few hours or so (read: all day) attempting to get a basic PDC up and running, with no success. I've even gone to the extent of copying John Herpstra's config, which contains all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff, in the hope that he had something I missed. He didn't. I've got one box running debian testing, with

WG: Samba 2.2.7a and XP pro
Dear Michael, I just have the same problem you have with samba 2.2.3a on a Suse 8.0 machine and win xp pro. Besides I performed all the steps below. >From my postings I learned that the prob might have something to do with a wrong mapping in smbusers file. It seems to me that the workstation account is mapped to user nobody. Up to now I was not able to solve the prob. Do you have any ideas

WinXP. Samba and Router connection problem
Hi, I have samba-2.2.8 installed on Slackware 9.0. I'm able to use smbclient from this linux machine to access all the services defined in smb.conf. I installed the WinXP_SignOrSeal.reg patch to my WinXP Pro machine. When I attempt to access samba services from the WinXP PC, it fails: c:> net use L: \\MYLINUX\tmp System error 53 has occurred. The network path was not found. I have

app_rxfax creating bad faxes? (StripOffsets)
Using CVS HEAD (20050214 with the new jitter buffer) and the latest (0.0.6?) spandsp. libtiff version is 3.5.7, compiled from source. System is Slackware 10, 2.4.26 kernel, no fancy patches and processor is a P4 1.5GHz on an Intel motherboard. Most faxes are coming through fine but a few companies in particular are having very poor success faxing to us. Most faxes LOOK like they'd

Probably a couple of hundred. There's been no effort put into optimising this - with some work, this could be lifted a lot further. Clients? On a 1.5 GHz server, you're unlikely to

Swfdec git install redux
Please ignore my previous message to the list, there was an error between keyboard and chair. I have completed some from-git install documentation, available here: http://revis.co.uk/site/?q=node/157 I'll generalise it, transfer it to the wiki and tidy up the installation page shortly. Installation issues: The configure script seems to have a small glitch in that for the packages
