Can't map samba drive from Win2K SP2 Server
I am running smbd version 2.0.9 and cannot map to a samba share from a Windows 2000 SP2 Server. I can however map from the samba server to the win2k Server. I can also map from the Windows Server to a windows 2000 Pro laptop on the same network, so I know that the server can map shares outside of itself. I can also map from a Win2K pro client and from other unix boxes to the samba server. I can

SV: syslinux tool for Win2k and 'safeboot' option
Hello Luis Thansk Yes we tried that and it works, but if you are in the field and only have new clean compact-flash and no DOS, you are in trouble. I can syslinux directly to the USB card-reader/writer under Linux without problems too. It just appears as a SCSI-device(/dev/sda). best regards ole at danelec.dk * danelec electronics a/s * Blokken 44 * DK-3460 Birkeroed * DENMARK *

Win2k Profile problem
ok, I have Samba 2.2.0alpha2 (on RedHat 6.2) up and running as a PDC, I can add Win2k machines to the domain and the machine accounts are automatically created. (finally!) Now, my problem is when a user logs off the machine for the first time, their profile is created, BUT(!) it only makes rwx permissions for SOME of the directories in the profile, this is what I mean: [root@samba profile]# ls -l

Problem with Win2k Offline Files
Hello, I ran into a lot of trouble after upgrading Samba from 2.0.10 to 2.2.3a on a linux box running RedHat 7.1 / Kernel 2.4.17. Local users with notebooks should be able to use files on the network online and on the road. We are using the Windows 2000 "Make accessible offline"-feature to achive this. The notebooks are running Win2k SP2 SR1 or Win2k SP2. With Samba 2.0.10 the

Samba 2.2.7 and Win2K - printer drivers
Hi, I'm trying to find out, is it possible to deliver printer drivers automatically for Win2K clients by a samba printer server. Clients are Win2K with SP2. I can see printers shared by samba. Win2K-client says "Access:denied: Unable to connect", unless I configure a shared printer with an option: "use client driver = yes" Samba is running on RH 8.0 and shares work just

Problems with rsync on Win2K to Solaris

Each time I run rsync, I get the following error: --------------------- C:\rsync>rsync server1:/tmp/file . I am using Samba 2.2.2, Win2k with SP2 and all critical updates. I searched deja news for this problem and I couldn't find anyone else who is having this problem. Win2K Client / Samba 3.0.4 PDC -> Setting Win2K Profile Settings
I'm trying to locate the list of registry values to adjust how Win2K clients handle the user profile with the Win2K boxes joined to a Samba PDC and logging in with domain accounts. Specifically I would like to DISABLE roaming profiles!!! Many moons ago, the WarpServer Win2K client from IBM came with very good documentation on how to adjust that client to not create roaming profiles, etc...

syslinux tool for Win2k and 'safeboot' option
Hello I think syslinux is great and just downloaded 2.00 and will start using it in a couple of days. 1. We use an IDE<->compactflash-adapter in our target-system. We use a USB-compact-flash reader/writer(SanDisk/ImageMate) on our linux-host to write the flash. It appears in the Linux-system as '/dev/sda', and we can use syslinux and mount for copying kernel, syslinux.cfg and our

Win2k TS authentication probs / pw changing probs
Hi, We are having problems with clients changing their passwords from Win2k Terminal Servers against a Samba PDC. It works fine if the machine only has few users on it (ie when testing at 6pm after almost everyone is gone - I find it difficult to break). I'm guessing there is some sort of race condition or resource locking going on that prevents it happening properly. As I didn't
