slooow Windows2000
...if I truss the smbd for such a slow connection I get a mess of smb messages being exchanged prior to the requested browsing information. On a quick WindowsXP connection's truss I do not see any of this "pre-dialogue".
I have not a glue.
Thanks for any help.

[LLVMdev] slooow compiles
As part of routine testing, I run clang and llvm-gcc a lot of times.
Something happened between r83681 and r84167 such that clang-cc and cc1
became many hundreds of times slower when asked to perform optimizations.
Is this a known issue? These are all release builds on Ubuntu Jaunty on
x86. During these long runs, memory usage creeps up slowly at maybe 1 MB
per minute.
Thanks,

[LLVMdev] slooow compiles
My InlineCost refactoring has been noticed in this aspect; that may or
may notbe the culprit here.
A quick thing you can do is to compile with -ftime-report and compare
the top few passes between versions.

Offline Files won't sync after Samba upgrade
Dear Samba users,
Having scanned this list archive, this problem has been raised several
times over the past 12 months on this list, but mostly without any
response. Now it's happened to us too, and I raise it again in case
anybody has figured it out in the meantime.
All our employees are provided with laptops, and spend a lot of time
working offline. We make extensive use of the Offline

Logwatch - malformed password entry(uid not number)
Hi All,
I've the following in the logs and am wondering why they are there.
I also keep getting emails from SAMBA log-deamon (or something like that).
[2003/05/19 15:24:29, 0] passdb/pdb_smbpasswd.c:getsmbfilepwent(364)
getsmbfilepwent: malformed password entry (uid not number)
It's not really serious (at least to me) but it's a cause for concern. Below

Rsync Troubles after NAT router firmware Upgrade.
Hello,
I have been using rsync for a long time to send web files from a development
server to a production server. It worked great
until a few days ago when I upgraded the firmware on the Linksys BEFSR11
Router that the production server is behind. The development server is also
behind the same model router, and both servers are connected to the cable
network (Internet) using Surfboard cable

Building a view for a 3 model has_many relationship
I''m working with three models:
- Charge. has_many :budget_plans
- BudgetPlan. belongs_to :charges, :rollups
- Rollup. has_many :budget_plans
This works out perfectly. A budget plan contains the ID of a charge and
rollup and then there''s a 3rd attribute for hours. So working with data
is no problem.
My budget plan scaffold works nicely so I can select a charge, select a

I am trying to upgrade samba from 2.2.7-security-rollup-fix to 3.0.14a and
am having some issues.
The server is Red Hat Linux release 7.3 (Valhalla) with Kernel 2.4.18-3
I have download the samba source, compiled, and installed it, but none of my
older files seem to be updated. I noticed that the new version is installed
to /usr/local/samba but most of the old files are in /usr/bin (such as

Logging Detail
Hi all,
I am using Samba 2.2.7-security-rollup-fix on a few RH7.3
systems.
I need to configure the logging to show what user/pc is accessing
what file.
I've been through the How-Tos at Samba.org and read the section
on configuring logging detail but either I'm too tired or too stupid
(both viable options ;-) ) to figure out which level I need to get this
information.
Can anyone tell

OS X Tiger Share write problems
I have found lots of people talking about this problem, however I have
yet to come across a solution. None of the OS X 10.4.x systems can
write to a Samba share on a RH 7.3 server with Samba "Version
2.2.7-security-rollup-fix" Windows and Linux can read and write with no
problems. All systems can write to a samba 3 server running RHEL 4,
I've compared smb.conf files and

Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4
Hello.
Anyone else experiencing Problems with this update ?
We do have W2k AD. And Samba Member-Server. This is done via Winbind
without using Kerberos.
After installing the Update to our AD-Servers. It seems that winbind lost
its connectivity.
wbinfo -t worked.
wbinfo -u showed errors.
After removing the update from all our servers, winbind works again.
Should I move our configuration to

Mouse problems running windows xp as a virtual console in opensolaris B81
Hi all,
The mouse is not really useful in the virtual machine.
The actual mouse is like miles away and in order to click on the buttons it is very frustrating to push the buttons.
Does anybody have a solution for this.
thanks in advance

Win XP-home connecting to Samba, ahhh, please help!
I'm about ready to pull my teeth out over this. I just installed Red
Hat 8.0, have not used Linux much in the past, which is why I went with
Red Hat, sposeto be easier, more support etc.
The network the Linux box resides in has 2 WinXP-home computers, and a
Win200 Pro computer. They are all sharing all files, no passwords, no
domain, just a workgroup called "ESR".

pap2 bridging problems
I'm having a real problem with one of my linksys pap2. On outgoing
calls the callee will ring, but caller (pap2) will not here it ring
When the callee answers, no audio is transmitted either way. Asterisk
reports the call connected and bridged correctly.
Now the kicker is that sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. I
have had the most luck calling land lines, but sometime
