Lots of lost+found files ...
Hi, I've recently had a spate of filesystem errors on my laptop which is running a vanilla RedHat 7.2 (kernel 2.4.7) using the ext3 filesystem on all partitions. I have been using the laptop with no apparent problems for some time but last weekend, when I was trying to compile Evolution overnight, I hit a compile problem; it complained that a Makefile didn't exist in a script directory.

ext3 patch for 2.4.6 (plain or ac1)
Does the ext3 patch applies on top of the newly released 2.4.6 kernel (and/or the 2.4.6-ac1 variant) ? I want to upgrade to the new kernel and wanted to know before I run into problems if there are any known problems and if it's better to wait for an 'official' release. Thanks. 0.9.2 or 0.9.3 ?
Hi, I found out that a new version of ext3-2.4 was available from the previous messages on this list, despite the fact that no 'official' announce was given... I'm currently running 0.9.1 on 2.4.6-ac2 without problems. Should I upgrade to 0.9.2 (I suppose yes by reading the changelog :-)) ? What about the 0.9.3-pre version ? What does the -pre mean exactly (any incidence on the

yum update -> [Errno 4] Socket Error: timed out
Trying to update a second CentOS box, I'm getting this error repeatedly: [Errno 4] Socket Error: timed out I'm getting this on every mirror and have gone through the list of mirrors more than a dozen times. Oddly, the RPMs I'm trying to upgrade I upgraded just yesterday without a problem on another machine on the same LAN with no problems whatsoever. I can ping mirrors fine. There

motherboard to use with CentOS 3
I'm about to build a server. I want to use a P4, and have lotsa RAM, I don't need audio, I do want to do RAID, but I'll do software RAID if hw isn't available for IDE. the RH hardware list seems rather woefully out of date, does anyone have any recommendations for a good motherboard guaranteed to work? I'm looking at ASUS P4P800-E-deluxe which has a driver on the ASUS site

SIP Calls Not Working
Hello, I have two sip phones (zoiper). Earlier these used to communicate using the settings below for sip.conf and extensions.conf and now we asterisk 1.8.29.0, so these phones have stopped communicating. My question is that does 1.8.29.0 release require any more changes to be done to the sip.conf and extensions.conf to make the below work ? The sip.conf contains following enteries

Lost Access to Logon Profiles after upgrade to samba 3 Beta 2
Team: My Debian Sarge "testing" box got upgraded from Samba 2.2.6, I believe, to Samba 3 Beta 2 in the latest dist-upgrade supplied spate of updates (90+, and I missed Sambe being in there . . . ). Not a big deal except that now I have lost access to the logon profiles directories at logon time. It's a basic Samba setup. Uses Unix passwords and Unix accounts, etc. Nothing fancy

Problems with .C - [Ff]ree()?
I've just pulled my R installations up to 1.4.0, and am having trouble with some of my dyn.load'd C code: R frequently segfaults after .C calls into the (newly rebuilt) libraries. It hasn't happened with any previous versions of R I've used. I do seem to be able to make things behave by removing calls to free(). Changing everything to Calloc() and Free(), didn't help,

can't update CENTOS - mirrore issue? or what?
For about a week a biug stack of updates have been pending for CENTOS but I can't install them. The yum update command leads to dependency resolution in the usual way but it always ends in this: ---> Package poppler-utils.i386 0:0.5.4-4.4.el5_4.11 set to be updated ---> Package xorg-x11-drv-qxl.i386 0:0.0.12-1.2.el5 set to be updated --> Running transaction check -->

KB -- I made those changes several months ago (Sep/Oct I believe), with discussion in IRC. This was after a spate of people in the main channel having issues with Atomic (there's a name that's going to end up causing problems...) and the continued use of RPMForge/RepoForge, with no indication that they're really really bad. As well as the recognition of the reality that there are a
