mksmbpasswd.sh does not create accounts with the X flag in the password flags field. Does this X matter, and if so, what does it mean? Hi; We've recently upgraded from Samba 1.7 to Samba 2.2.8 and we're using Samba to allow our users to connect to their Unix home directories from their PC's. Under 1.7 users were able to connect by mapping a drive from windows explorer and entering their unix username and password. Now, when we do this we get a "Incorrect password or Unknown username" error message.

Hi, I have a Linux box with 512MB RAM and running Samba 2.2.7. I noticed that memory is constantly decreasing when I typed free. If I run ps aux, I see that more and more samba sessions are opened, some by root and some by users. Is this normal? Won't Samba close unused sessions before opening new sessions? Due mainly to the help that this list provided, I am now able to successfully deploy Linux/Samba servers in our corporate domain, and allow remote offices to function as part of our vast windows domain.
