create matrix
Hi all, I have a dataset consisting of 5 columns and over 5000 rows. Each row gives information about an individual animal, including longevity, i.e. at what age an animal died. For the model I use I need to create n rows for each animal, n being its longevity, and a new column 'survival' with a binary 0/1 outcome. When an animal died e.g. at age 5, there have to be 5 rows of identical

New R package MittagLeffleR
Dear all, apologies for interrupting your important work. The new R package MittagLeffleR is now available on CRAN. It computes the two types of Mittag-Leffler distributions, i.e. provides probability density, distribution function, quantile function and random variate generation for the Mittag-Leffler distributions, and the Mittag-Leffler function itself. It is based on the Laplace-inversion

AT Scheduler fails to xcopy to SAMBA volume but mapped NTFS shares OK
Hi, I have a very simply batch file that simply copies a 300M file to a SAMBA volume but the job fails if run via the NT scheduler. Manually running the batch file (ie double clicking in the file manager) works fine as does changing the destination to another "real" NT Share. The problems only occurs on SAMBA volumes and not when using another share from another NT. The batch file

Trailing slash in destination
Good afternoon all, I'm currently working on a backup script that will fetch a set of logs from remote machines and store them on a central machine. The command I'm using is of the form ${RSYNC} -avz root@${site}:/data/access_* ${LOG_REPOSITORY}/${site}/ Each site usually holds about 8 files with the prefix "access_". Some machines however only have one, and this is where my

Netware CIFS nlm - linux samba
Dear Gurus, We're having bizarre problems/behaviour. Admittedly we have an unusual set-up: - users on linux desktops (RedHat/KDE) mounting files over SMB using samba-2.2.5-10 -client and -common rpms. - files are on a SAN, clustered behind 2 netware servers (6.5), wihch run the cifs.nlm (netware guy has gone home - can't tell you the version just now) Files are spontaneously

Software RAID 10?
Hello... I have a server with 4 x SCSI drives and I would like to install Centos 4 (or 5) onto a software RAID 10 array. Do you know if this is possible? I noticed that under the Centos 4.92 beta, RAID 5 is an option but for some reason RAID 10 is not listed. There does appear to be a RAID 10 module.... /lib/modules/2.6.9-42.0.8.ELsmp/kernel/drivers/md/raid10.ko More info I found here:

Change in behaviour of sd()
Hi I have just upgraded from R2.6.0 to R2.7.1 (running on Windows) and a part of my code that previously ran ok now gives an error. The following is a simple example to demonstrate my problem. > a <- array(c(1,2,3,4,5,6,rep(NA,6)),dim=c(6,2)) > apply(a,2,sd,na.rm=T) In R2.6.0 this gives (which is what I would like) [1] 1.870829 NA In R2.7.1 it gives the following error

smbclient using SMB2+ against NetApp OnTap 8.2 anyone ?
So I just spent a frustrating day trying to get smbclient from 4.2.x and master connecting to a NetApp 8.2 box using SMB2 or SMB3 with NTLM auth. Short answer - it doesn't work :-(. Longer answer - the NetApp is choking on something inside the SPNEGO NTLMSSP packets we're sending it - giving the error that it couldn't parse the SPNEGO packet. Unfortunately (and knowing bugger-all
