Where to get Adobe Postscript Drivers
Hi all,
According to Samba 2.2.x HOW-TO:
You need to download them yourself from the Adobe website. Once
extracted, create a drivers directory in the CUPS data directory
(usually /usr/share/cups/). Copy the Adobe files using UPPERCASE
filenames, to this directory as follows:
ADFONTS.MFM
ADOBEPS4.DRV
ADOBEPS4.HLP
ADOBEPS5.DLL
ADOBEPSU.DLL

cupsaddsmb NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_DEVICE
Hello,
I am using cups-1.1.19final-1.deb and samba-2.2.3a. When I was working
with cups-1.1.15 before, cupsaddsmb worked fine, but now with
cups-1.1.19 it gives me:

Problems adding print drivers
Hey folks.
I am trying to set up a cups/samba printer server, and I am having trouble using cupsaddsmb.
I isolated the problem to a rpcclient and here is the information I gathered from the various commands.
If I delete all the files in "/var/lib/samba/drivers" cupsaddsmb installs the folders and files, but doesn't move the files in to the WIN40/0 folder with the adddriver

and apparently, when I send a page test it works fine.
But now I want to share It via Samba then I putted the different setting in
smb.conf . I extracted the different files from the ADOBE POSTSCRIPT DRIVER
and I put them in /usr/share/cups/drivers .

cupsaddsmb: cli_pipe: return critical error. Error was SUCCESS - 0
hi list,
We got the following problem:
We try to use samba 2.2.5 as a printserver for windoze clients
(samba 2.2.5 on RH linux 8 w/ CUPS 1.1.15).
CUPS works w/o any problems, but when we try to generate the drivers for
the windoze clients (by using cupsaddsmb), we get the following error:

cli_pipe: return critical error. Error was SUCCESS - 0
result was NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL

Hi list,
I have a problem adding printer drivers for automatic downloading via
samba for windows 2000 clients.
Under cups I added my printer and copied the Adobe postscript driver
files like mentioned in printer_driver2.html. And when I finally
commit:
cupsaddsmb -v -U root normal (normal is the name of the printer)
And here is the output:

Printer download - NOT WORKING
Hi,
I played around with samba 2.2.5 and cups and tried
to get it working. Well everything is fine, but the driver upload to the
client WILL NOT WORK.
I used the current stable downloads, latest patch for printing, prebuilds
from Lars Mueller ....
I put together everything.
If one has a working samba//cups please tar it
and place it on our ftp-server.
I don't know what's wrong here

Samba+CUPS+Drivers autodownload
Hi Matt,
the problem you referred to is discussed in detail
as bug #82 in Samba's bug tracking tool. It consists
of 2 bugs. One prevents the registration of drivers
and is due to a NULL-pointer passed from that part
of code in rpc_server/srv_spoolss_nt.c which calls
sys_adminlog function. It begins with the comment
/* BEGIN_ADMIN_LOG */
and ends with the comment
/* END_ADMIN_LOG */

Samba+CUPS+Driver autodownload
Hi,
I'm trying to get Samba to offer the Adobe driver automatically for the
two printers I have set up with CUPS.
I have all of the necessary files plucked out of the Adobe Postscript
Windows driver package, but I'm hitting the problem when I come to run
"cupsaddsmb -v ..." that the "rpcclient adddrivers" command always fails
with NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL. The drivers

When running the cupsaddsmb command, I get the following: Since I am

Any help would be appreciated.

I have set an alias, and it shows up in Network Neighborhood, but when I try

The primary name works fine however. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Before anyone responds I would like to let everyone know my problem is
fixed :) The problem was lpr would only spool so big of a file, so I

Sustainable transfer rate with Samba
We have a customer who requires us to use SAMBA to transfer large amount
of data with sustainable transfer rate of 30Mbits/s.
Both server and client is Linux machine. We already tried to set the
SENDBUF and RECVBUF to 64K and IPTOS_LOWDELAY but the best we could get
is about 5Mbits/s.
After reviewing the Ethereal trace, it is clear that the client only
request 4096 byte of data per read request

Printing w/CUPS, Samba 2.2 - Adobe PS files?
I'm following the Samba HOWTO for CUPS printing, trying to run the
'cupsaddsmb' program but it requires the Adobe PS files. The howto says
to get them from www.adobe.com, can anyone be more specific?
The files required are:
ADFONTS.MFM
ADOBEPS4.DRV
ADOBEPS4.HLP
ADOBEPS5.DLL
ADOBESU.DLL
ADOBESU.HLP
ADOBEPTR2.PPD
ICONLIB.DLL
I've downloaded the "Universal 1.0.6 English"

Samba 2.2 + CUPS driver download work for anyone?
I have tried everything I could possibly think of to get printer driver
download working with Samba 2.2.3a-6 and CUPS 1.1.15-4 (latest Debian
unstable packages). I am wondering if anyone else has go this to work at
all (with newer versions of samba or cups?) -- if so please let me know to
give me some hope. Or else I am thinking this is officially 'broken'.
CUPS is working perfectly

Samba 2.2.7a and cups 1.1.18
Hi
I have installed samba-2.2.7a and cups-1.1.18. After reading all the documentation samba
provides as well as the cups administrators guide I am still stuck. I have added the
printers just the way the samba and cups documentation says. Anyway here is my output from
cupsaddsmb, It fails on the last step, so i have run that manually again afterwards with
debugging enabled.
I believe this to be
