WINE and OFFICE97 Applications
Hi all,
I've copied from my WIN98 PC to my linux machine the complete
C:\WINDOWS\* tree and as application the OFFICE97 installation. On my
linux machine codeweaver 1.0 is running.
EXCEL97 behaves well but for WINWORD97 I got the alert box "not enough
memory or working space". Well I think I have enough memory but it may
be a configuration problem.

Command line trash ?
Hi!
I'm attempting to start setup.exe from office97 package.
The installer starts but then bails out with the dialog
Wrong parameters on the command line: "
(see the unpaired double quote) and then pops another dialog
with its usage, then exits.
I'm calling it just with wine setup.exe, no quotes nor
other characters there. I was trying to compensate this character
by putting one

Using Office2000 with Samba (latest version)
I need your help. I've searched the Internet and did a lot of experimenting
but I cannot get Office 2000 to work with Linux 7.3 and the latest-version
of Samba. I had no problem with Office97 and other applications. I used
the setup /a on a win2000 client to decompress the files so I could run
setup and install the applications on the Samba share. The files will

problem saving word documents
Hi,
Thought I posted this already two weeks ago. Haven't seen any reactions
yet, so I post it again
We got the following problem here:
Every now and then, users are unable to save Word or Excel documents on our
Samba server. We already tried a couple of things: disabling oplocks,
increasing oplock break wait time, putting the documents on a new share,
... but to no success so far.

Problems with recycler on samba 3.x
Hi again,
Hi,
I have problems with recycle objects on samba 3.x with SuSE SLES9SP2 server:
When I save a file (with wordpad or editor ...) to the network-share, a 0 byte-file will
automaticly be saved to the trash-folder.
After removing the file from the network-share, the real file (>0 byte) will be stored
to the trash. Thats ok. But now I created a file named the same filename than the

MS Office 2000 Small Business instalation problem
Hello.
I'm trying to install MS Office 2000 Small Bussiness (Polish version) with
latest CVS wine. First I get a small message box that tells me, that my
Windows Installator is being upgraded, then I get an error message, that
could be roughly translated as:
"Windows system Installer in this system has been upgraded. You have to
restart system to finish this upgrade

finding older rpms
I'm on a fairly old RHEL box, when I "cat /proc/version", I get the
following:
Linux version 2.4.21-4.ELsmp (bhcompile at daffy.perf.redhat.com) (gcc
version 3.2.3 20030502 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.3-20))
At this stage, I guess I don't have 'yum', so where exactly do I get the
individual RPMs?
I went to DAG to find some stuff I needed, but some of the rpms at

I read your notice about your problem with Windows NT and servicepack 3.
Did you find any solution?
I have the same problem: I can?t see other computers on the network when
I?m running SAMBA. I would appreciate if you could help me.

What project should I use ?
I am going to list my current plans for rebuilding a Law Firm?s network. I hope that someone will be able to tell me which project (samba or samba-tng) would be a better choice, or if staying with MS is the only choice. If my plan could be changed for the better, input would be greatly appreciated:
A lot of this information is useless for my questions, but I am throwing it in anyway.

Dreamweaver access errors with Samba 3.0.23d
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Dear list
Our environment uses Samba to store user directories. I recently
upgraded Samba from 3.0.14a to 3.0.23d. After this, we discovered that
Dreamweaver MX had trouble writing to an existing file; a file could be
created and saved, but saving again after changes produced a "Permission
denied" error.

building ms-office.deb (rpm, tgz)
I'd like to build a (100% unofficial) ms-office.deb - a meta package
which requires the user to insert a MS Office CD (and a Windows CD)
extracts the necessary files from it and thus installs a (hopefully)
usable version of MS Office on Linux.

-> Does anybody have an idea why it could be impossible to do?

max filename length
I'm having some weird problems with filename lengths. Here are the
symptoms:
- I can not rename a file from explorer to have more than 127 characters.
After typing in a filename, it prompts me with the "are you sure you want
to change the extension" dialog. It gets truncated to 127 characters, and
doesn't have an extension. The filename shows up from a UNIX shell having

Erronous disk full message
Hello,
I have discovered a slight problem with MS-Project4 on a WinDD server,
where users are not able to update the *.MPP file.
WinDD is Citrix Metaframe on Windows NT 3.51.
We have all data files stored on a UNIX box, using samba-2.05a, so all
*.MPP files are stored there, with the proper UNIX user's userid and
permissions.
The problem is that userB can not update and save changes in a
