Implementation of W2K Group Policies from a Linux Ser ver
Just a quick congrats to John for repling to this email constructivly. Too often do people fire out the ole RTFM speel. More people within the OpenSource community could do with taking a leaf out of his book. On topic for a second, do not discount being able to lower the spec of the below machine due to careful implementation and installation. You may wish to take a look at the kernel

Files Show in Windows but not on the Red Hat server
*I just recently migrated our web server to Red Hat 8.0 running Samba 2.2.7 from FreeBSD 4.2 running Samba 2.2.3a. In windows, a user copy or moves files to there home directory on the server running samba. The file seems to copy or move fine (It is visible when accessing the share from explorer), but if I telnet to the server the file is not in the user's home directory. I have tailed the

Win2K Workstation Disconnecting Shares from Samba Server
Team: I have a Linux Server running Debian Testing (2.4.18 kernel) and Samba 2.2.3a-12.1 It's been running GREAT. This is a marvelous product. I have a minor issue, though. 2 of the 14 Win2K (all at SP3 and fully "Windows Updated") will "disconnect" the shares on the Samba server after only a few seconds of inactivity. This isn't typically a problem, except that

Guide to Cisco 79xx
Anybody have a guide to the Cisco 79xx phones? One that I can give the 7 or 8 ppl in my office so that they can stop asking me questions. I was going to type up a basic guide but then decided I don't want to reinvent the wheel, one of you may already have one. I tried to use Cisco's guide but it's for their own protocol, a lot of options are different or rearranged. I need a basic

ntfs support
I should think this is quite a basic question but what I have tried so far hasn't worked. I have centos altarch 7 and I want to mount an ntfs volume. (I am beginning to suspect it is not available for 32 bit so I will need to get the source and compile?) ?These commands I have tried: yum --enablerepo=extras install epel-release yum --enablerepo=extras yum install epel-release I have

Why are all repos < 5.6 listed?
Greetings all. I just enabled all repos on my system, to enable me to find a particular package. This is the first time I have noticed all the Centos repos < 5.6 being listed. Is this a new feature, to include all repos pre 5.6 now? Here's the output of the aforementioned yum command - sorry it's a little bit long: [root at karsites ~]# yum --enablerepo '*' --disablerepo

Has anybody got ACL to work w/ debian, winbindd in a w2k mixed domain?
Im seriously thinking about changing dist. due to acl won't work as they should with debian woody. Ppl also tell me this is because of some bug in debian. So, as the subject says, anybody got acl to work w/ debian 3, winbindd in a domain? If not, hello redhat.. Adding kmod to pxe install
Hey guys, I'm stumped in how to add the kmod rpm to pxe install. I need it to be installed but also loaded during the install as well. The rpm in question is the 3w-9xxx from elrepo https://centos.pkgs.org/8/elrepo-x86_64/kmod-3w-9xxx-2.26.02.014-1.el8_0.elrepo.x86_64.rpm.html I'm constantly getting the following message Warning: can't find installer main image path in .treeinfo Any

kmod-jfs on Centos 6
I am a bit of a noob with Linux and Centos but would like to be able to access an old external USB disk formatted JFS by OS/2. I have seen there is a kmod-jfs package on elrepo that ought to work with Centos 6 but am unsure how to install kmods without hosing my existing system... If anyone would like to be so kind to give me a short how-to, I would be very grateful. Thank you.
