Problems with SAMBA as PDC and Windows XP SP2 as client
Hi!! We are trying to configure a Debian Linux Server as Samba Server (Domain Controller) and a Windows XP (with Service Pack 2) as client. We have configured Windows into the Samba Domain (in other words, we have been able to agregate the machine into the domain), but when we restart Windows and try to login with a samba user (from linux server) (selecting the Domain), we received a message

Profile and Win2k SP2 problem.
I keep getting "Windows cannot copy file \\ssp1\profiles ... to C:\Documents And Settings\..." when trying to log into a Samba PDC using a Windows 2000 SP2 client. Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix this? I am including my smb.conf file, below: # Global parameters [global] workgroup = DC1 netbios name = SSP1 server string = Samba Server encrypt passwords = Yes update

Antwort: roaming profiles Samba 2.2.3a and W2K SP2
Hi Rene, I have found this in the "whats new" for Samba 2.2.3 Added/changed parameters. ------------------------- ... nt acl support This parameter has been changed to a per-share option, and is very useful in enabling Windows 2000 SP2 to load/save profiles from a Samba share. ... Maybe it helps! Regards, Thomas Bitte antworten an <rene.lenga@atacama.de> Gesendet von:

roaming profiles Samba 2.2.3a and W2K SP2
Hello samba-insiders, we have a WinNT 4.0 SP5 PDC and our samba 2.2.3a is member of the domain. The roaming profiles of our clients stored on the samba 2.2.3a server. All seams to be perfect but clients with W2K SP2 cannot use there roaming profiles. ---> "Access Denyed" is the W2K error message. But if the same user loggs on on a client machine with W2K SP1 all things are ok. In

password expires in 10 days no matter what Win2k Sp2 (All critical updates)
No matter who I log in as, I always get the message, Password expires in 10 days. Checking the /etc/shadow file shows that it is set to 99999 which means it shouldn't expire. I am using Samba 2.2.2, Win2k with SP2 and all critical updates. I searched deja news for this problem and I couldn't find anyone else who is having this problem. Not that this matters, here is the log.jweber file

Can't map samba drive from Win2K SP2 Server
I am running smbd version 2.0.9 and cannot map to a samba share from a Windows 2000 SP2 Server. I can however map from the samba server to the win2k Server. I can also map from the Windows Server to a windows 2000 Pro laptop on the same network, so I know that the server can map shares outside of itself. I can also map from a Win2K pro client and from other unix boxes to the samba server. I can

Windows XP SP2 on a Samba 3.0.10 PDC - roaming profiles won't work
Hi All, I am having some trouble getting Windows XP with SP2 connected to a Samba 3.0.10-based domain controller. With SP1, I only had to change a single registry key to prevent Windows from demanding a signed connection, then it worked. But with SP2, and the same samba-configuration, I have noticed that upon log-off, the user's profile is updated by the user "root" of the group

samba 2.4 and win2k clients doesn't work
Hello, i'm new to the the list so excuse me if I ask for an old problem, but i found no solution in the archive. I try to set up a rh 7.3 server with samba 2.4 as PDC for win2000 sp2 clients. I configured the samba to create the machine accounts on the fly. When I try to join the domain the entries in smbpass and passwd are created fine. After a minute I get the message that I joined the

Win2k SP2 Printer problem
For those who have been helping me or following the problem I've had of printing from Win2k (SP2) system to a printer on a Linux (Mandrake 8.1) server through Samba 2.2.1a, I have some good news and information that I hope helps other people. At this point I have established the problem is NOT a printing problem. It's a user/access problem that's connected with using my server

Windows 2000 (some sp2 / sp3) + Roaming Profiles + Samba PDC 2.2.3a (Redhat 7.3)
Hi, This is my first post to the list, so iam hoping luck is with me :) Ive run samba as a simple smb fileserver for over a year, but never needed to do any more than provide shares to users (who always use the same machines). However Iam not in need of running samba as a PDC for some windows 2000 machines, and need to use roaming profiles. This is where the problem sets in. Ive set up a nice

ACL & roaming profiles - XP SP2 - Samba 3.14a
Hi, we just upgraded to samba 3.14a from 3.12 I guess. Now does anyone have working profiles with XP? I looked around on the net, and there seems to be a problem, still or again... With the previous version installed it worked well. Jan Kellerhoff

problem login W2k-sp2 and 4 to samba 3.0.2: profiles
Hi once again Now I have almost everything working, that is, Samba 3.0.2 with Ldap database (messages ok when reading), and I want it to be a PDC, everything seems to work fine when registering machines or users, but when logging, I mean, entering W2k-Sp4, my computers (two of them) reset themselves: they begin to load the user defined stuff and then when one expects the the navigator bar to

preexec close + Win2K
I have Samba 2.2.2 on Solaris 8 acting as a PDC. I have written a script that checks to see if a user is already logged in on the PDC and if so, sends the user a message (via the SMB message stuff) telling them they need to log off. I run this script using "preexec close" under the netlogon share. So, the user authenticates against the PDC, but then gets a desktop that is mostly

Samba Swat and win2K domain
Hello, So I just setup samba and swat on one machine here in my office. I can see the work group that this machine has created from all my windows based machines and I can see my windows domain from the linux box. This made me happy since I am a nubie to this Linux stuff. But that's where the joy stopped. When I double click on the linux box from my windows box network places I get an

samba3 win2k roaming profiles.
I'm running Windows 2000 Professional and Samba 3.0.1 and I can't seem to get roaming profiles to work right. When there are no profiles stored locally on the win2k machine, and a user logs in for the first time, it successfully reads the profile from the server in the \\netlogon\Default User share. Next, if you manually copy the profile to server and login to the workstation, it

Copying (Samba -> WinXP SP2) MATLAB generated .jpg files very slow.
Greetings, This is a interesting problem. One of our researchers uses MATLAB to generate jpg files as part of his vision research. When he copies these files from the file server, it is very slow. I tried 3.0.28a and I see the same problem as we have with 3.0.28. Here are some interesting stats. 1) MATLAB generated files: command: robocopy Y:\23_1 C:\23_1 /e dirs: 2 files: 262 bytes:
