Hi, I tried to upgrade from Samba 2.2.8a to 3.0. It worked generally speaking fine and speed went up tremendously, BUT since then the DOS conversion of long file names is freaking me out. Using long file names produced a readable short version plus ~1 oder ~x. where x stands for a number. now long file names produce some cryptic 8 letter name plus extension. listing in a DOS box

Hi. i am using the hide files and hide dot files options, but the files are still visiable on my WinXP clients. Yes, I have the option set on the XP clients to show all files for security reasons. But can't samba just hide this file for everybody / every setting? thanks daniel

Hi, we are using samba 2.0.7. on our HP file-server. For the NT users everything is ok, but we are not able to setup WIN95/98 computers to use the shares. All computers are within the same domain. Shares of NT-pc can be used and also shares from other linux boxe, but NOT from the HP. The global section is the same on the linux and HP machines. Any idea ? How can we check what is going wrong ? Hi, I played around with samba 2.2.5 and cups and tried to get it working. Well everything is fine, but the driver upload to the client WILL NOT WORK. I used the current stable downloads, latest patch for printing, prebuilds from Lars Mueller .... I put together everything. If one has a working samba//cups please tar it and place it on our ftp-server. I don't know what's wrong here

Hi, I have tried to use cups and samba together. Everything works great, however I am not able to configure and/or setup samba correctly, that the clients are able to install the driver. To test everything I used a dedicated system installed a fresh SuSE 8.0 and compiled samba (2.2.4) and cups (1.1.14). I only userd a differnet prefix for samba. Everything else is default.
