re: Samba PDC shared applications and a default start menu profile (Kevin S. Brackett)
Hi I'm currently doing exactly this for several sites. Within Win2K and above it is possible to configure Local Group Policy Objects, so that the ALLUSERPROFILES value is pointed to %LOGONSERVER%\Software\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu Thus when a user logs in, they see the the menus stored in their profile, overlayed by these on the Network Drives. Dovecot and Solr 6
Hi! Dovecot 2.2.24 Had set up solr and new schema collection. Copied dovecot provided schema. There was an error with booleans (while getting schema via http), which I "solved" by removing "add-unknown-fields-to-the-schema" from solrconfig.xml. It is correct way to solve this? Anyway, I run tcpdump to see network activity between dovecot and solr: #tcpdump -i lo port 8983

New PDC
Hi - I'm setting up a new Samba PDC here in a 30-person architectural office. The current PDC is running on an older computer and hasn't been updated in a while. The new PDC will be Samba 3.4.0 running on Ubuntu 9.10. We don't use roaming profiles. My question is this - is there a way to "seamlessly" migrate the desktops to the new PDC from the old one without

Roaming profiles problem - loading failure
I have a samba 2.2.4 PDC which acts as the repository of roaming profiles. Just recently some of our users have experienced failure to load roaming profiles. The clients are on a pair of Windows 2000 terminal servers. The failure does not seem to be confined to one server and only affects some people. The error given takes place during the loading profile stage: Windows can not copy: \\Samba

New to icecast2, few questions
I have a icecast2, everything is working great, except for 2 issues.. 1, Quicktime is always buffering... never plays, anyone seen this and if so know of a solution? 2, the icecast web server gives 404 errors for the png and css files that are in the web root, is this a known issue? Thanks in advance! - kevin

Moving to Samba PDC - 2K+XP profile problems?
Hello all, This is really a Windows question (and might be a bit off topic), but I know that the people on this list would know the answers I seek better than anyone. This weekend I am planning on moving the office from a Win2KServer-based domain to a Samba-controlled domain. The current server has been showing some hardware problems and is running out of space anyway. I have had my Samba

Windows Vista roaming profiles "access denied" forced local profile (samba PDC), but Windows XP OK
Hello, I'm having an "Access denied" issue using roaming profiles for Windows Vista Ultimate RTM (patched to current). The actual login is successful, the full name is set properly and the password is handled correctly, however only a temporary profile is created. The interesting thing is that all else being the same, I do not encounter the same issue for Windows XP roaming

Samba 3 as pdc : Roaming profile cannot be created.... win2k workstation
I have Samba 3 running on gentoo as a pdc. I read in someone's forum posting to try enabling acls and that didn't seem to do much good. I can get the computers to be added to the domain using their smb username/passwords and when they login, the correct shares corresponding to their users map perfectly; however, my biggest problem is when they do login it says the following: Windows

Odd Roaming Profile behaviour from a Samba PDC
Hey All.. I've been trying to track down the source of this problem for some time now and am hoping that someone may have seen this in the past... I picked up a system that has Samba V. 2.2.8a, acting as a PDC and serving roaming profiles to Two Windows 2K Terminal Servers running SP4. However, as a user attempts to login for the first time, the PDC authenticates the user and attempts to

roaming profile corruption with windows xp client and samba PDC
Hi, I have roaming profile issue on my SAMBA PDC with an LDAP backend running on FreeBSD 6.3. It seems that randomly, user's profile get "corrupted" on windows XP. When that happens, the user log in as usual (%userprofile% variable is set and all the share are properly connected) but he gets a default desktop configuration (default wallpaper, english keyboard layout...while i'm

default roaming profile for Samba 3.0.2a / WinXP P
Hi togeteher, Config: Server: Samba 3.0.2a as PDC, no LDAP, no Kerberos Clients: WinXP Prof all working, dom-Logons are ok. When I add a new linux-user, there ist a default profile for the linux-user in the skel-directory. Does Samba provide a 'skel-profile' for new samba-users (=domain- users). If so, where do I have to put the default profile and do I have to set special owner /

Win2K Client / Samba 3.0.4 PDC -> Setting Win2K Profile Settings
I'm trying to locate the list of registry values to adjust how Win2K clients handle the user profile with the Win2K boxes joined to a Samba PDC and logging in with domain accounts. Specifically I would like to DISABLE roaming profiles!!! Many moons ago, the WarpServer Win2K client from IBM came with very good documentation on how to adjust that client to not create roaming profiles, etc...

Samba PDC, permissions on user profile folders too wide
Hi folks, I have got a Samba PDC with roaming profiles: CentOS 7 x64, build 1511 The server is set up with roaming profiles according to the current Samba Wiki. Roaming works, but the permissions in the profiles are too wide, giving access not only to the user in every profile, but also to the group (770). For example, if I log in under Windows, add a file (or folder) on my desktop, and log

films on Desktops and roaming profiles
Hi, I'd like to ask you what do you limit Desktops syncing in case users put large files on them, e.g. films. Downloading / uploading such large files can generate lots of unnecessary traffic. Is there any kind of filtering possible ? Other solutions ? Cheers, -- Michal Kurowski perl -e '$_=q#: 13_2: 12/o{>: 8_4) (_4: 6/2^-2; 3;-2^\2: 5/7\_/\7: 12m m::#;
