Port 139 versus Port 445
I've noticed that my W2K clients connect to Samba much more quickly
if I run it on port 445 instead of 139. However, my WNT clients then
won't connect at all. I read somewhere that it was possible to forward
the requests on port 139 to port 445. Anyone know how to do this or how
to listen to both ports simultaneously?
Thanks,

Undefined symbols
Where could I get information about wine libraries content ?
For instance, if I'm migrating a WNT console based application using
winelib, which is the library I must link with object files ?
I don't have this information.
Thanks in advance. Ignasi Villagrasa.

Winelib problems
I'd like to know how to link console functions such as
WriteConsoleOutputA.
They are documented as implemented, and I can compile source code
including these function predefinitions, but I get undefined errors when
linking. I don't know which library to add to get objects linked.
Thanks in advance. Ignasi Villagrasa.

file names in Win Explorer
I'm having a problem getting W95 and WNT to correctly read file names on
a samba server I set up. The server passed all of the diagnostics, and
file names show up correctly in a dos window. However, under windows
explorer, anything after a . doesn't show up in the name. This is only
true for a . in the middle of the name, "hidden" files such as .fvwmrc
show up. WE does

Full wNT/w2K ACL conformance
We are planning to replace a quite big domain running W2K with Samba ( at
the very least, the DC ).
Though i'd love to have the extra security capabilities of W2K ( Kerberos )
as a DC, Samba/NT4 as PDC/BDC with ldapsam will more than suffice for now.
The show-stopper right now is this: we need to be able to assign "real"

usbhid-ups on OmniOS (Solaris 10 derivate)
Hi Matej,
I've cc'ed the developers mailing list for now...
thanks for your report. Could you please send in some driver debug traces
(starting it manually, using "usbhid-ups -DDDDD ...")?
That would help in troubleshooting the issue.
thx and cheers,
Arno

I have a perl script that I've written to convert a ps file to pdf file.
I want the user to be able to setup a

a [ps2pdf] printer share.

But when I try to mount this volume
mount -t xfs /dev/hdd1 /mnt/test
I get the error:

I find it slightly surprising, that

returns NA instead of character(0).

3.0.2rc1, LDAP, Solaris 9 and secondary group problem - Bug 395?
Hi,
we have tested Samba 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 with LDAP-Support (--with-ldap) on
Solaris 8 and it worked fine.
The machine authenticates against an OpenLDAP server. Patch 108993-23 is
applied and we use native Sun LDAP client modules.
On Solaris 9 we ran into problems with secondary groups. Users cannot
access files if the rights are based on a secondary group and if this
information is stored on

slow backup using W98
I have been using Samba as a Windows server replacement for years, both
in my shop and most of my clients. Recently I replaced a WNT 4 server at
a customer location with a Linux box - Mandrake 10.0 - which is strictly
a file server.
The machine my client is using to backup his server is a W98 box w/
350MHz/256MB, an HP Travan tape drive and Stomp Backup My PC V5.0. This
backup was taking about 4

autoconfigure new NT4 sp3 clients, samba 1.9.19 server
Hi,
I'm running the Alpha of 1.9.19 (we needed Samba as a domain controller)
and want to know the best way to set it up so that the first login for a
new user on an WNT workstation in that domain creates the profile we want
for the user, rather than the one NT seems to want.
1. The profile created is about .5 Mb in size. The parts that we want
in there are maybe 20% of that. How does

>4gb file corruption from NT4 to Samba
Hi, sorry if this question has been asked before, I searched the
archives and discovered the same question but no replies to it.
Basically, I'm trying to transfer large files from a Windows NT4 machine
to samba (version 3.0.20b, SuSE 10.0, reiserfs) and after 4GB the file
gets filled with zeros. No such corruption occurs when transferring
from Windows 2000. Does anyone know whether this

Directory problems - not active directory
I use samba every day, and it works perfectly except :
I work for a reseller of a contact manager which runs on windows, doesn't
support UNC pathnames, but does support mapped drives, to all real windows
servers, and with an option, to a novell server.
The trouble is, this program uses directory structure intensively and
doesn't seem to be able to create directories properly on a
