NTDOM FAQ question 2.3
I've compiled and installed Samba version 2.0.0-prealpha (15) on an IRIX 6.2 box without problem. I created an account using 'smbpasswd -a -m' and see it in the private/smbpasswd file. I can see the server 'ackowledging' the NT 4.0 workstation client to some extent in the log files but still see "The machine account for this computer either does not exist or is not

Question on how to get Samba to use larger pread/write calls.
We are testing Samba 3 (and 4) on Fedora Core 13, 10Gbit connection with a Mac OS 10.6.4 system as the client. We will be adding some Windows machines sooner or later with 10Gbit interfaces. We are seeing 100-150MBytes/sec read or write performance between the Mac and the FC13 system over 10Gbit interface but it should be capable of 400-500MBytes/sec. We have a local raid on the FC13 system

How to set minimum size of accepted rsa key
Hi eveyone, Is there a way to set the minimum size accepted by sshd as an RSA public key? I want to restrict users to using RSA keys that are generated with ssh-keygen -b 2048 or greater. I didn't see any option in sshd_config. There is a ServerKeyBits option, but that seems to apply only for SSHv1. Please help me and provide your response. Thanks in advance. Regards Ravi Pratap

far end disconnect supervision
I'm starting to shop for my first channel bank and one of the features that eveyone seems to recommend is "far end disconnect supervision". What other terms do various manufactures use to describe this same feature ? Is "calling party disconnect" the same as "far end disconnect supervision" ? Thanks

R on Irix 6.5 fails when trying to load external data?
I've previously installed R on Solaris and everything went fine there. I'm now trying to install on Irix 6.5 (about which, unfortunately, I have less than thorough knowledge) and it is failing. R itself seems to be working okay. Initially, Irix's dumb make program didn't understand some Makefile syntax in the tests, so I just ignored them and installed it. After the

IRIX 5.3 permanently_set_uid problem
Hello, I have tried running OpenSSH 3.7.1p2 on an Indy running IRIX 5.3. It compiled and installed without any problems. However, I get the fatal error, which originates from uidswap.c in function permanently_set_uid(): fatal: permanently_set_uid: was able to restore old [e]uid This happens even if "UsePrivilegeSeparation no" is used in sshd_config. It seems to be a problem

Known limitations? (IRIX + Samba 2.2.3a + Winbind)
Anyone know of a brief overview of the expected limitations on an IRIX system running Samba 2.2.3a +Winbind? Everything seems to least work, but I still find some odd permissions things going on. The IRIX machine is authenticating NT users from my NT domain OK and I can specify user rights to files, but when you do a long listing under IRIX it list the file as being owned by DOMAIN-NAME with

Irix joblimits failure (was: Re: New snapshot)
IRIX has a compatibility mechanism that lets you test for optional symbols (like jlimit_start) at run-time. I think these patches will let all all IRIX 6.5 systems build images that will test for job limit support dynamically: --- ./configure.ac Wed Feb 27 01:12:35 2002 +++ ../openssh-3.1p1/./configure.ac Thu Mar 7 15:50:21 2002 @@ -115,7 +115,7 @@ AC_DEFINE(WITH_IRIX_ARRAY)

File names and e-acute char
Hi. Samba 1.9.15p8 under IRIX 6.1 (yes I know, it's old stuff ...) The susers on Windows 9x/WindowsNT just put their strange file name or directory name (like /usr/people/mesure_?t? ) on the IRIX. However, from the IRIX side, it's impossible toaccess to such files/directory. What's more, my ARkeia backup client stalls on such a name and fouled up my backup database... NB: Oops: for
