Mandrake Binaries
I lost my bookmarks to the samba binaries compiled for Mandrake 9.0.
I'd like to mess around with the 3.0 stuff. I remember there were 2 ftp
sites that stayed pretty current. I'd like to add them to URPMI so I can
update easily.
Thanks

Upgrade failed? 2.2.5-pre1 to 2.2.7
Hello,
I downloaded the source, followed the instaructions to the T (make,
install, etc...). Everything seemed to go fine, I think the compilation and
installation were flawless (after all, I have compiled 2.2.5 sucessfully,
and havent done anything to this box as far as removing software libraries),
there were no reported errors. The install portion even had the messages
saying all went well,

Installing Samba 2.2.3a on Mandrake 8.1
Hi everybody,
I've upgraded from 2.2.1 to 2.2.3a. I've downloaded the zip file -
unzipped it in /root/tmp/Samba - run "./configure" - run "make" - run "make
install".
Everything went well. Restarted Linux and checked the version in swat. It
still was 2.2.1. Samba was running when I installed 2.2.3a.
What did I do wrong??
Thanks

Warning when updating Samba via mandrake update
I've just done a update of Samba from 2.2.4 to 2.2.6.
After installing everything it says some files were modified, ie smb.conf,
and gives you the option to view the changes.
It removed all my shared folders, removed settings from 'global' and changed
lines for cups and other bits and pieces. Some changes are highlighted in
green and the ones it removes are in red with '-'

5 non-answered questions.
Hello,
We have just migrated our large dev file server on linux+samba
(Mandrake8.2+samba2.2.3a).
It works almost fine but here are some question asked by some users I can't
answer, after reading the manuals, the FAQs...and reading this list for a
while :
1. Why can't NT clients do several levels mkdir ?
I mean doing a mkdir toto/titi would create first a toto directory and then

Printing from Linux to Windows 2000
I've seen a lot on printing from Win boxes to printers on Linux boxes. I've
found very little on printing from Linux to Windows printers. The HOWTO has
some information and I've found several other sources, but I still can't get
my Linux box to print to a Windows 2000 printer.
I'm using Mandrake Linux 8.2, Samba 2.2.3a, CUPS (I'm not sure of the version,

Installing 2.2.5 latest on Mandrake 8
Hi there
I am a novice Linux user and am just trying it out - I am very impressed but
also very frustrated. I have loaded Mandrake 8 on a box and have configured
Samba for Windows pc's use this as a backup data server. Works
wonderfully - but our campus administrators say that the current version of
Samba presents a security risk(2.0.7) and should be upgraded. Thought this
was simple but

smbclient to access limited networks?
I am new to this ML and am sorry if this question has been answered
already.
I have a firewall router running Linux having two Ethernet ports (i.e.
access to two networks) for INTRANET and INTERNET. This firewall needs
to run smbclient to access a share on a Win2K host in the INTRANET.
Looking into the Linux kernel message log, I found smbclient is
broadcasting NetBIOS name service queries to

Hi, I sent this in a couple of days ago and have only gotten one
suggestion. Can someone read the below problem and try to help me out?
I have searched everywhere for a solution to this and have tried
numerous 'passwd chat' strings to no avail.
Help is much appreciated!

Help with PDC on samba
Help please
I am running Samba 2.2.3a on Mandrake 8.2. My configuration file is below. I
am trying to use XP as a client. It seems to find the domain, but it keeps
giving me the dreaded "Multiple connections ... " message. I have tried
running the "c:\net use * /d" command without success.
Many thanks
