Version 2.2.6 and above are not able to store big files over 2GB
Hello, when I store a file biger than 2GB to a samba server version 2.2.5 everythink works fine. But when I do that with a server version 2.2.6 or 2.2.7 the saving fails on the 2GB limit. The problem can be seen with windowsclients or with smbclient (any version > 2.2.5). I did some debuging and find that the lseek64 fails. But I didn't find the reason. Regards Klaus Ethgen

Printing with Samba...
We have had a hard disk crash in one of our file servers and it has been rebuilt with Red Hat 6.1 by a software vendor. It had to be this older version due to some legacy sostware that won't work with any later version. I am trying to restore it to it's original state as a Samba file server for a small number of Windows 98 clients. I have installed Samba 2.0.7-4 (the latest for Red

works in R-1.1.1 but not in R-development; why?
Dear All, A library (PHYLOGR) that passed the usual tests in R-1.1.1 gives errors with R-devel; my (mis?)understanding of scoping rules is that it should have worked in both. The problems seem related to using the name of the data frame for extracting weights or subsets within a function call. The problems can be reproduced as follows: ********************** datai <- data.frame( y =

Smbpasswd problem fine before but now ?
I set up a LM ( Linux Mandrake ) machine a 6 or 7 months ago with LM8.2 and samba 2.2.8a. I set up a 5 disk software raid 5 and made 5 accounts and 5 entries into smbpasswd using smbpasswd -an XXXXXX All went fine, nothing out of the usual happened and all users could hammer the raid remotely to see if it died. I have just resurrected the machine, which has been powered down for about 4 months

Printing to remote usb printer
My networked printer has developed a fault and has to be returned to the manufacturer, so I have to go back to a usb printer attached to my file server. In the past I worked happily with a remote printer, but I'm having no success at all today, and could do with some prompting. /var/log/cups/error_log says: I [02/Jun/2008:17:02:21 +0100] [Job 276] Adding start banner page

Compiling from source - where is winecfg?
Hey all, I've just switched distro to Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) from LM9 Isadora. Some of you may be aware that the Wine Debian packages are extremely old (the repo the main page directs me to doesn't go above 1.1.4.2), so I compiled 1.3.4 from source, without installing. That went fine, insofar as I tested with a previously-installed app and it ran, but now I want to install a

Re: iptool (ink reset canon question)
The printer's firmware reconizes electronic signatures of cartridges, nothing you can do (short of flashing you printers bios, which will render it a door stop) is going to get that cartridge to recognize as full.
