help with roaming profile
I've got a problem loading my roaming profile: client - win2k domain controllers - winnt server profile server - samba 2.0.3 I can log in OK, and the PDC tells the client go attach \\server\userid as my H: drive. That works, thus samba and the domain controller are properly exchanging info. the problem happens right at login though: i can't download my profile. Windows cannot copy

Profile creation
SAMBA VERSION: 2.2.4 ERROR(S): Profile Creation I have recently been assigned to create a Samba PDC. Earlier in the week, I thought I was successful. I was able to log in, load (or create) the test user's .ntprofile, etc. Went home that night, happy as could be. Came back the next day - and nothing was working correctly. The systems could not find the domain. The domain was not

Profile directories ignore directory mask
Hello, We are running Samba 3.0.4 in ADS mode with winbind. We use roaming profiles, stored in the [homes] share for each user in a directory called .ntprofile. This same home directory is used for their UNIX account. For some reason, when windows creates the roaming profile directory (.ntprofile) it gets created with permissions 771. This is bad, because all of our users are members of the

Problem with roaming profiles on upgrade from 2.2 to 3.0
I have quite a few samba installations, and I've had problems with roaming profiles when upgrading from Samba 2.2 to 3.0. My servers run Debian stable, which uses Samba 2.2.3, with security patches. At some point Debian will release a new stable version with a recent Samba 3.0 release. Right now I'm testing a few servers with a samba 3.0.10 backport to make sure the transition will go

Roaming Profiles with Samba PDC
I have been working on this problem for quite some time now and have not been able to find the solution. I have Samba running on Debian Linux 3.0 (Woody) as a primary domain controller. From my Windows 2000 desktop I am able to browse that Linux server with Windows Explorer. My biggest problem is trying to log in to that domain. Under Windows 2000 I am able to join the domain (sjmlinux) but

"No such file" error when reading Win98 profiles
Hi all, I'm having an odd error with Samba 2.2.5 and I'm wondering if anyone can give me a hand with it. About a month ago, I upgraded from Samba 2.2.1 to 2.2.5 on RedHat 7.2 and, since then, my Win98 users have been receiving "No such file or directory" errors during login. The upgrade was installed using John Terpstra's RH 7.2 RPM package. Users are set up with roaming

Roaming profiles problem - loading failure
I have a samba 2.2.4 PDC which acts as the repository of roaming profiles. Just recently some of our users have experienced failure to load roaming profiles. The clients are on a pair of Windows 2000 terminal servers. The failure does not seem to be confined to one server and only affects some people. The error given takes place during the loading profile stage: Windows can not copy: \\Samba

Logging in taking too long with roaming profile
Hello, I am trying to setup a network of 5 XP computers with roaming profiles. I've got a profile set up on the server and I can log on. The problem is that the log in time takes about 10 mins and the log out takes just as long. Here is a link to the log file from the samba server. I have made comments on it to show what is happening on the terminal.

I used my old smb.conf and made the neccasry changes to it, I have pasted it below. I don't receive any errors, it just ends up using a local profile and doesn't bother to update it to the server. samba 4.1 roaming profiles
Dear Mark, It looks like you are trying to do the same as I did. Did you read the thread I had some days ago with subject "How to copy roaming profiles to new server ? ("Group policy client service failed. The logon access is denied")" ? This could help you. Other suggestions : Not sure if [profiles.V2] is still required but maybe you should try to add it ? We also

samba 4.1 roaming profiles
I'm configuring a new samba 4.1 server with NT4 style domain. I've copied most of the configuration from our working 3.6 server, making some changes as needed for the newer samba version. So far, I have been unable to get roaming profiles to work. It seems like the users cannot write in the profiles directory, but I don't see why not. Here is the relevant part of smb.cond [global]
