reload without shutting imap connections down
Hello, we have some problems with users who report connectionproblems to dovecot sometimes. According to the logs there are dovecot reloads at this times. Seems that a reload also causes dovecot to shut all imapconnections down: Jul 16 13:31:40 myhostname dovecot: master: Warning: SIGHUP received - reloading configuration Jul 16 13:31:40 myhostname dovecot: imap: Server shutting down.

smb.conf question
While the Samba server is running, does it ever refresh the contents of the smb.conf file, or do you have to restart the server for it to see changes to the smb.conf file? Thanks in advance. Reloading Smb.conf automatically?
Just a few quick questions: If I make changes to smb.conf, do I need to restart the SMB and NMB services, or is it like Vixie Cron, where it'll re-read the file and adapt changes every minute? Why do I have multiple NMB instances running, but only one SMB? Thanks for the help! Aton

Samba checking for smb.conf changes
Been looking around for this. When does Samba determine when to check for changes to the smb.conf file? Is there a certain amount of seconds set? - Kris Jordan -

NUT and relay on USB
Hi there, I have a question about a raspberry pi as NUT server and a "relay". I explain my situation: I have an UPS with USB port, so I connect it to the rasp. The problem is that I have a device manageable only via USB port. How can I handle this configuration? My assumptions are: 1) split the USB cable from UPS to rasp and device, but I don't know if it works 2) connect the UPS

using more than one ldap server in smb.conf
Hi! I'm trying to get Samba running to accept more than one ldap server in smb.conf. I applied this patch (http://groups.google.com/groups?q=smb.conf+second+ldap+server&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&selm=ar08ok%241pjt%241%40FreeBSD.csie.NCTU.edu.tw&rnum=5) to the samba (2.2.5) sources, but samba doesn't query the second ldap server I specified in smb.conf. Is there

auth socket goes away on reload
We're using the SQLite backend for authentication of Postfix SASL. When the db is replaced we HUP dovecot to close and reopen its connection. During this time it appears the socket file is removed and Postfix rejects the authentication attempt. From the logs: Jun 3 00:23:02 xxx dovecot: dovecot: SIGHUP received - reloading configuration Jun 3 00:23:02 xxx postfix/smtpd[14746]: warning:

test76-77 dies at SIGHUP
Hello people This is on OpenBSD/sparc64. After chickening along with 0.99 for a while, I finally upgraded to 1.0-test. I started out with test73, which worked fine. With the upgrade to test76, I lost the ability to SIGHUP dovecot when I rotated it's logfile. Dovecot would just die abruptly, not a trace in the log. I just upgraded to test77, but the problem is still there. I've put

FW: Can you reload only one conf file?
In the interest of making things cleaner, I'd like to know if I can just reload one single conf file. Let's say I have two files, extensions.conf which includes small_file.conf. I only want "small_file.conf" reloaded, not the main file. Is this at all possible? Mike -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
