WINBIND configuration and NT Authentication]
Hi, Yes it's possible to authenticate users from win 2000 server with winbind. For me the PAM configuration was the hardest part. I used mandrake 9 and it has a realy good pre config. And if you want to modify the folder/file permissions from NT/W2k PDC then don't use ReiserFS as the filesystem. Use either EXT3 or XFS. Mayby the ReiserFS 4 will have the ACL support. I have had

WINBIND configuration and NT Authentication
Setup: Suse 7.2, Samba 2.2.6 Win 2K PDC Project: I would like to use winbind to authenticate users that do not have local accounts on the linux machine for access to various file and print shares. I have gotten winbind to successfully grab the user and groups from the NT box (verified by getent passwd). However, I have had little luck obtaining the permission based file share that I would

Access to Samba server across subnets
Hello all, I'm using samba 2.2.7a with winbind on a RedHat 7.3 (pre-installed by Dell) server, with an NT PDC/BDC, with the NT PDC acting as the WINS server. Everything works fine on the local subnet 192.168.0.xxx, but we also have an IPSec VPN set up with our western call centre, and users on the western office subnet 192.168.10.xxx can't login to the samba shares. They can login to

Basic authentication with Apache and Mongrel
I recently moved an app. from lighttpd + fastcgi to apache 2.2 + mod_proxy_balancer + Mongrel. On lighttpd, I was using basic authentication with a configuration like this: auth.backend = "htpasswd" auth.backend.htpasswd.userfile = "/path/to/htpasswd" auth.require = ("/" => ("method" => "basic", "realm" => "My

imaptest: performance testing
Dear Folks, Using head of imaptest with dovecot 2.1, I am attempting to put a heavy load on the server, with insufficient success. I made 15000 user accounts, put them in to a file, one per line. Then I ran imaptest with ./imaptest userfile=../../imap-test-userlist-15001.txt clients=15001 pass=SECRETPASSWORD But CPU load is only reaching 20. I put an mbox containing 67 messages into

How stable is samba 3.0?
Hi, Im using 2.2.x at the moment and I'm wondering should I move to 3.0 now. I need samba to be a file server in couple networks. What I need in all of them is to get the samba to authenticate user / group from winNT/Win2k servers. At the moment this doesn't work with the 2.2.x because my lack of knowledge. I have 3 weeks time to get this working =). If I can't make this I must

Can samba refres the connection to the PDC?
Hi again =) If I have got this right? When a samba is in a domain security mode and loses the connection to the PDC example NT4, it drops from security = domain to security = server mode. Is this information correct? And if this is true is there any way to get it automaticaly get back to domain mode when the PDC get back on line. And if this isn't true why does it disallow to change the

Fwd: Re: Basic authentication with Apache and Mongrel
There is a big difference if you are not running a pure rails site. I am doing auth apache-side because I serve static content, perl scripts via cgi and feed the mongrel pack from Apache. The REMOTE_USER variable value can be passed to rails using a technique described deep down in one of the informative pieces on the Mongrel website. Plans to intigrate ObjectGraph in to Rails
Are there any plans to move the schema definition from migrations to the model, where it should be? Like og does, which I think is used by the ruby Nitro framework... ObjectGraph: http://www.rubygarden.org/index.cgi/Libraries/og_tutorial.rdoc Example code: [code] class Post property :title, String, :sql => ''VARCHAR2(32) NOT NULL'' property :body, String property

make check fails due to NA / NaN mismatch
Thank you for the introduction to these recent changes, Martin. I think this was the second time I ran "make check" on that platform (Raspberry Pi 32-bit), and the first time (some months ago) it worked fine. So, that makes it kind of "suddenly", although I must say that my use of "make check" is very irregular. I compared code before and after the split you are
