Problems adding print drivers
Hey folks.
I am trying to set up a cups/samba printer server, and I am having trouble using cupsaddsmb.
I isolated the problem to a rpcclient and here is the information I gathered from the various commands.
If I delete all the files in "/var/lib/samba/drivers" cupsaddsmb installs the folders and files, but doesn't move the files in to the WIN40/0 folder with the adddriver

hi list,
We got the following problem:
We try to use samba 2.2.5 as a printserver for windoze clients
(samba 2.2.5 on RH linux 8 w/ CUPS 1.1.15).
CUPS works w/o any problems, but when we try to generate the drivers for
the windoze clients (by using cupsaddsmb), we get the following error:

Hi list,
I have a problem adding printer drivers for automatic downloading via
samba for windows 2000 clients.
Under cups I added my printer and copied the Adobe postscript driver
files like mentioned in printer_driver2.html. And when I finally
commit:
cupsaddsmb -v -U root normal (normal is the name of the printer)
And here is the output:

Printer download - NOT WORKING
Hi,
I played around with samba 2.2.5 and cups and tried
to get it working. Well everything is fine, but the driver upload to the
client WILL NOT WORK.
I used the current stable downloads, latest patch for printing, prebuilds
from Lars Mueller ....
I put together everything.
If one has a working samba//cups please tar it
and place it on our ftp-server.
I don't know what's wrong here

Samba+CUPS+Driver autodownload
Hi,
I'm trying to get Samba to offer the Adobe driver automatically for the
two printers I have set up with CUPS.
I have all of the necessary files plucked out of the Adobe Postscript
Windows driver package, but I'm hitting the problem when I come to run
"cupsaddsmb -v ..." that the "rpcclient adddrivers" command always fails
with NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL. The drivers

Printer Problems
Before anyone responds I would like to let everyone know my problem is
fixed :) The problem was lpr would only spool so big of a file, so I
had to add a -s option to it. Thanks once again for this great piece of
software...

Samba+CUPS+Drivers autodownload
Hi Matt,
the problem you referred to is discussed in detail
as bug #82 in Samba's bug tracking tool. It consists
of 2 bugs. One prevents the registration of drivers
and is due to a NULL-pointer passed from that part
of code in rpc_server/srv_spoolss_nt.c which calls
sys_adminlog function. It begins with the comment
/* BEGIN_ADMIN_LOG */
and ends with the comment
/* END_ADMIN_LOG */

Hello,
I want to setup a new print server using cups and samba
for our new institue. Everything is working well (printing
from unix and windows), but the driver download
for the windows clients won't work and I have no idea what's
wrong.
Currently i have installed cups-1.15 and samba 2.2.5
on top of suse 8.0 using the rpm-files from

a change in rpcclient from 2.2.2 to 2.2.3a
Samba version 2.2.3a doesn't seem to work with the "cupsaddsmb" program
available in CUPS... cupsaddsmb merely runs a few rpcclient commands.
The verbose output from cupsaddsmb is printed below. This output is
from cups version 1.1.14, but I received the same error from version
1.1.12. On 2 different computers - both clean installs. When run on
Samba version 2.2.2, the command

Samba 2.2.7a and cups 1.1.18
Hi
I have installed samba-2.2.7a and cups-1.1.18. After reading all the documentation samba
provides as well as the cups administrators guide I am still stuck. I have added the
printers just the way the samba and cups documentation says. Anyway here is my output from
cupsaddsmb, It fails on the last step, so i have run that manually again afterwards with
debugging enabled.

problem adding printer driver
Hi,
I am attempting to configure our samba server for print
driver download. The server itself was installed from
RedHat 7.3 and has been configured to used cups instead
of lpd/lprng. After studying the documentation on cups/samba,
I decided to try the Adobe driver install. I used the cupsaddsmb
program to perform the driver install, which works fine
except for the "rpcclient

2 quest.: cups - samba and ACL under HPUX
Hi,
I have tried to use cups and samba together. Everything works
great, however I am not able to configure and/or setup
samba correctly, that the clients are able to install
the driver.
To test everything I used a dedicated system installed
a fresh SuSE 8.0 and compiled samba (2.2.4) and
cups (1.1.14). I only userd a differnet prefix for
samba. Everything else is default.

No joy adding a CUPS printer
I'm trying to change my Samba setup from LPD to CUPS, with little
success. I've followed [and re-followed] the setup documentation
from CUPS and I just can't get Samba to recognize my printer.
The catch is - it sort of recognizes it :-(
First I added these lines to my smb.conf:
=========================================
[global]
load printers = yes
printing = cups
printcap name =
