problem configuring smbd for domain authentication
Hello everyone, I am trying to configure a Samba 2.2 server to allow users to mount their home directories (stored on a UNIX filesystem) from Windows after authenticating against a Windows 2000 Domain Controller. The Samba server is 2.2.3a compiled with acl support on Solaris 8. I think I am experiencing some (hopefully) basic configuration issues and can't seem to get it to work. I

Win2k DC no longer authenticates for Samba shares
I have a win2k domain ... 2 of the client machines are Red Hat (7.3 and 8.0). I set everything up to use the DC to authenticate ID/PW. Everything worked perfectly until a week or so ago ... Samba would automatically create a home folder and the whole nine yards. Now I can see the shares on the Samba machines, but I can't access them ... just prompts for the ID/PW over and over. I can mount

Error Joining NT DOMAIN
I'm trying to use the documentation found with Samba-2.2.4 to set up a samba server under RH linux 7.2 (kernel 2.4.9-21) to join an existing NT domain for a couple of weeks with no success. I obtained the samba 2.2.4 source code, compiled with the following options to configure: --with-winbind --prefix=/usr/local/samba --with-smbwrapper --with-pam --with -pam_smbpass After compiling, I

security=domain problems
Hi all, We are having some problems getting a solaris 9(sparc) file server running samba 2.2.2 to authenticate aginst a windows NT 4 PDC. Let me say first that this was all working at one time, then we had some data corrumption on our NFS mounted /usr/local, and had to restore from tape. Due to some issues with solaris ufsdump and ufsrestore, stuff was not quite put back properly. We do

security = domain and Mac OS X
I've set up Samba on Mac OS X to do pass through authentication to the nt domain in AD several times now. No big deal, it usually just works. Now, however, it doesn't appear to be working. Note the relevant part of the transaction below (loglevel 4). Steps to replicate: a) Add pre-Win2K account with AD Users and computers b) sudo smbpasswd -j EXAMPLE -r WINSERVER -U

samba with ldapsam: first "net join" always fails, second succeeds
Created an "add machine" script that basically looks for an unused uid/rid, and then creates a stub LDAP entry for the machine; the first time I issue "net join", the script is invoked and creates the LDAP entry correctly, but the join operation fails nevertheless: f1sa:~# net -U winadmin join winadmin's password: [2006/09/08 10:19:40, 0] utils/net_ads.c:ads_startup(191)

Please help with winbind setup
I have been (unsuccessfully) trying to get this up and running for the past few days. I have successfully setup samba itself NUMEROUS times but this winbind stuff has me stumped. I have built a fresh box for this server using Turbo Linux server 6.5 and samba 2.2.2. I have followed all the docs and man pages that i could find. 1. I have samba compiled (using --with-winbind --with-pam) and

Problem with samba 2.2.3a configured to use domain security
I am having a problem with getting samba 2.2.3a to work with our current set up. I used to have samba 2.0.7 working perfectly, but decided to upgrade to try and get Win2k clients to be able to access the shares on the UNIX system hosting samba. When I try and access any of the shares on samba (it doesn't matter who the client is) I get the following messages produced in the log file:

Authenticating users using server=domain
Hi, I'm new to this list, so sorry if this has been brought up before. I've searched the archives, and it looks like I'm having the same problem as Bill Gardner in his post: http://lists.samba.org/pipermail/samba/2002-April/070640.html Unfortunately I couldn't find any answer to that post in the archives, so I'm asking here.. I have a Samba 2.2.3a server running on IBM AIX.

winbind wbinfo -t secret is bad
Quick run down of my setup: NT 4.0 PDC, Samba RedHat 8.0 with samba 2.2.5-10 on it.(Also used RedHat 7.2 with 2.2.6 final as well) with the exact same results. When I run wbinfo -t, I get Secret is bad 0xc000018b. I have been trying to figure this out for a few days now and can't get it working correctly. If I run wbinfo -u, all of the users appears in the list, as well when I run wbinfo

Samba Issue
We currently have Samba installed on a Solaris 8 server. It is serving several fileshares. Within the last couple of months we have had an issue with connecting to the share from the XP desktops. On the same share it will work fine for a while and then all of a sudden when you try to mount the share it will ask for an ID and password (it normally does not). If you try again a few seconds later

samba config help please
I have a rh8.0 server that I'm trying to configure. The PDC is an NT box providing domain logins, and for the moment all I want Samba to do is provide storage. I would like for all the users to be able to access individual private shares acording to their respective accounts, and one large share for common usage. Presently, all of the w2k/xpPro boxes can both see the shares and map them. The

Winbind problem when heavy loaded ...
Hello, Sambas, Recently, I met a problem with my Samba 2.2.3a server. It is configured as a Domain Member, sometimes I couldn't get user list from PDC ( a Win2k server), but it come up again soon , say 5 seconds. I had thought it is PDC's problem, but it seems PDC is fine. Are there any other reasons will cause that? Some log messages attached. [2002/07/08 08:42:44, 0]
