Howto NTML
Has anyone gotten NTLM working with Dovecot and Outlook?
I have a Samba4 domain controller / active directory running just fine on Linux
Slackware64 14.1. PLAIN authenticiation works just fine if I create /etc/passwd
accounts for the domain users.
I've tried for over two weeks to get NTLM working from Outlook 2007 on a domain
workstation without success. I end up with various permission

Switching to another Samba server
I've been running Samba 2.2.2 for a while as a domain controller on my
mostly Windows network. It's been working great up to this point.
Anyway, I just put together a new Linux server and installed 2.2.2 on it
as well.
I copied the conf file and pretty much mirrored everything on the
existing server, changed the paths and the "workgroup" field in the conf
file to match the new

have to do it every time I open a pdf in firefox.
Any use Xpdf or something else?

Anonymous access to Samba, or something like it?
I know, why IIS when I can Apache? I'm actually running both... Kind of
a hybrid network. Anyway, I'm trying to configure IIS to use a Samba
share as its www root and I think I'm running into a security issue.
See, in IIS, I have to connect as a specific user when I attach a
network share as the www root. The share, from Samba's point of view,
is read-only and every file in it

Additional passdb result status
Dear Dovecot-Team,
I am implementing a plugin (for the pop3/imap process) that requires
some data to provided from the authentication phase (a derivative of the
password). For that, I have now implemented a passdb plugin that
generates this data and I would like to "pass" this data down to the
mail process (pop3/imap) via extra_fields in the reply of the
authentication. The general idea

Ring All Queue
Is there a way in the dialplan to figure out which agent in a ring all queue answered a line? I'd like to take specific action based on the agent upon hangup.

ACL: some maybe stupid questions
Hi.
I want to use ACL on my RH-9.0 box (x86), so I got ext3 ACL patch from
http://acl.bestbits.at/ and tried to apply it to the kernel that ships
with RH (2.4.20-8). The patching fails on some vm file so I got a vanila
kernel 2.4.20, apply the patch and compile it. This works fine. Also
RH-9.0 precompiled Samba 2.2.7 works fine with ACL.
I connected to my share with WinXP and do some testing

Acts_as_authenticated plugin?
Hi,
I''ve just downloaded the acts_as_authenticated plugin but I can''t find much
in the way of documentation.
First is there anywhere that someone could point me to to get a handle on
this.
Second.. Does the plugin still require the use of generators to use?
Thanx in advance
Dan

Too Many Ace Entries for file
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Greetings,
I am encountering a problem with Samba and setting acl's for
files/directories from the security dialog on my Windows clients. I
can easily toggle the file permissions. However, it am not able to
add/remove user/groups from the GUI interface on my windows clients. I
have also noticed when I add access with setfacl it doesn't not

Samba and Linux ACLs
Hi Samba folks,
let me first introduce myself. I'm the guy behind <acl.bestbits.at>, the Linux
ACL patch. (The other patch at
<http://aerobee.informatik.uni-bremen.de/acl_eng.html> seems pretty much history
BTW). A lot of work has gone into that project; we're approaching a very stable
release soon...
Now people keep asking me over and over again about ACL support in Samba.

Load at 5, no CPU I/O or swap in use
We are currently running CentOS 5 update 4 on a Dell R910 server 16
cores/32 hyperthreaded with 64GB of memory. It is our main Oracle 11g
DB server for one of our customers and is attached to an MD 3000
storage array. We are having a load averaging around 5 but see no swap
in use, CPUs are pretty much idle and no I/O wait. We have Oracle
dataguard turned on in transactional mode. I've checked

standard install on OS 10.3.9 crashes on start without useful diagnostics (PR#8500)
Full_Name: Bob Donahue
Version: 2.2
OS: Mac OS 10.3.9
Submission from: (NULL) (204.152.13.26)
That's pretty much it. I did the most basic install possible, tried running the
package through the GUI and on the command line, it crashed hard, immediately,
with absolutely NO useful information as to WHY it crashed.
To reproduce:
1) get the installer for OS X
2) install in the default places

The smbd ran away with the spoon...
It seems that my smbd process got fuxed somehow. It appears to have
take up all the file handles, and there were over 130 smbd processes
running on the system. I'm not entirely sure what happened. My first
thought is that something bad happened between the server and the
Windows client that's running Kaza (with a couple hundred mid-download
files) and it just spiraled out of control,

[PATCH] ext3 doc: user_xattr and acl options are not on by default
Documentation/ext3.txt suggests that the "user_xattr" and "acl" mount options
are on by default. This doesn't seem to be the case, as the kernel deduces the
default mount options from the filesystem superblock, and mke2fs does not
appear to write any default mount options there.

Extended Attributes and Access Control Lists
Hello,
I have today released an initial version of extended attributes and access
control lists for ext3 (patch against the 2.4.13-ac3 kernel). Eric Jarman
<ejarman@acm.org> has contributed a lot to this effort.
Since I'm not very much into the innards of ext3, can some of you please
take a look at the patch, and see whether it contains any flaws (and tell
me which flaws)? Thanks!

Samba with Posix ACL support

Has anyone got any "success story" or any good advice of using Posix ACLs
(or Enhanced Attributes) with Samba? I'm using Debian woody with 2.4.22

acl support for RedHat 7.1
Hi everyone. Can anyone please tell me where I can find the "acl-devel"
package I've been reading about in the archives of this mailing list? If an
rpm for RedHat 7.1 exists, that would be awesome. If there's only a
.tar.gz, that's OK too. Thanx in advance!
