Access from one box but denied from the other
I have samba setup and serving properly to one of my Win2K boxes, I can access shares and create/delete/move files from one of my Win2K hosts but not the others. I went through a bazillion steps debugging to get the first Win2k box connecting so its hard to say what it is that the other boxes (or the samba server) isn't doing. When trying to connect from one of the other Win2K boxes (through

winxp + sambs 2.2.3a (as PDC) + printers = no go
Greetings. Here's my scenario: 1) I have a linux box running samba 2.2.3a, configured as a PDC. 2) I have a WinXP laptop that attempts to use the printers that are configured on the samba server. NOTE: XP Laptop is NOT, repeat: NOT, in the domain that the samba box controls. The XP boxs is part of a workgroup instead. 3) XP box can see file shares on samba box fine. Just printers, at the

Print driver download, Win2K client, Samba 2.2.3a
Greetings. I'm new to the list, so before I ask a question which might be long and already have been answered, let me ask two short ones: 1) Is there an FAQ for this list? What is the URL? 2) Is there a concise and clear set of instructions for getting Samba 2.2.3a to automatically download drivers to a Windows 2000 Professional client? I'm running Samba on Red Hat 7.3. I have found

smbfs win2k 2.2.3a error
Fellow SAMBA lovers: I've been using 'mount -t smbfs blah blah' for over a year to do backup/restore. I recently upgraded SAMBA from 2.2.2 to 2.2.3a and the NT Server I was attaching to from v4 to Win2k. Now 'mount -t smbfs' returns an error. However, smbmount with the same parameters works, so I just changed the scripts to use smbmount. I suspect it's the Windoze server

Re: 2.2.3a as a PDC for Win2k Pro and/or WinXP Pro
Hi Mathias, I can't speak on Win2k Pro but have recently tested WinXP Pro. Now with XP you will need to use the reg file included with the samba archive (in a sub directory in the docs dir). Once that has been applied (presuming all accounts have already been created on server) you can join the domain and log in no problems. -- Regards, Deryk Robosson Robosson Business Services 22

Win2k logout exception error with Samba 2.2.3a-12.1
I am running Samba 2.2.3a-12.3 as a PDC on Debian 3 (kernel 2.2). All seems to be working with 2 exceptions. The worst problem is when I logout of my Windows 2000 desktop. While the Win2k machine says it is "Saving Settings..." it will come up with an error box giving me a fatal exception in application unknown. The message box title says something like: "SAS Window:

smbpasswd encryption (2.2.3a - RH 7.2 - kernel 2.4.7-10) Win2k
Hi listmembers, due to a few very short but good tips from you guys and to much hassle with my firewall (ipchains) I finally got samba running as a server and client (I even made an update from source, just with normal ./configure, make, make install after uninstalling the previous version of course). With "encrypted passwords = no" everything is working fine (except for some minor

SGI XFS 1.0.2a, ACLs and samba 2.2.3a with win2k perms
Hi, I haven't been able to find any doco that explicity states whether it is supported, so I am hoping someone out there can answer the following questions: Is it possible for a folder/file in a samba share to have win2k security permissions assigned to it? For example, I want my samba server to participate in an existing Win2k domain. I want users to be able to set their own

2.2.3a PDC Win2K Citrix Profiles
This weekend I upgraded SAMBA from 2.2.2 to 2.2.3a then made it the PDC on our LAN. Original PDC was an NT4 Server. There is a Win2K Server running Citrix Metaframe-XP, and the old NT4 PDC Server was replaced with another Win2K Server to be the Database Server. I didn't want to bother with setting Win2K up as a DNS and DFS/ADS Server (required for being a PDC), so selected to make SAMBA the

Please CC me as I'm not subscribed. Attached is my kernel configuration. Please forgive me if this is being asked a gazillion times in the list. Any way to audit view pages for missing h() calls?
I''ve got an app that has about a gazillion <%= statements in the view pages. I''m pretty sure I''m using h() everywhere I need to, but is there an easy way to figure out if there are any calls I''ve made that are missing h() and need it? Pat

Some basic SELinux questions
At my place we don't use SELinux because we have a gazillion tonnes of legacy software that just are not compatible with the default policies. No one wants to go to the effort of working out everything that needs changing. We also use cfengine for central management. Which somestimes causes a problem when CFe modifies a file that I don't want modified on my machine. So I want to be able

smbclient & printing on win2k box with HP Deskjet 560C (Drivers?) SMB 2.2.3a - Kernel 2.4.7, red hat 7.2
Hi LUs, I dont have much time at the moment to read tons of documentation. So, I would like to ask a hopefully easy to answer question. Samba is running alright with me, smbclient works fine, but I would like to print from my Linux box over LAN to a printer (HP 560C) connected to a win2k box. Because I can't afford a better or second printer & I also havent got enough room for it

Official Documentation for Asterisk 1.6 Realtime ODBC Tables
Hi All, I'm having an issue where Asterisk continuously sends out a GAZILLION "SIP NOTIFY" messages when a user has a voice message in their INBOX. This issue is only present when my SIP users and peers are configured from my ODBC backend (MySQL). A static configuration of users in sip.conf resolves this and everything works fine. I'd like to confirm the layout of the

Win2k oplocks and you
Hello list! I've seen the threads in this months archives on oplock issues, so I hope I am not hitting a sore spot by bringing it up again. The reason I am beating on this is that I've got a testable, repeatable issue with Win2K terminal server (SP2) running CorelDRAW 10 (patched to current) against a Debian Woody box running Samba 2.2.3a-6 for Debian. Since I can repeatedly test the

network prob on Centos 4.4/HP DL320 G2
Hi! I've installed Centos 4.4 on a machine at work (it's a HP Proliant DL-320 G2 rackmout server that serves my desktop). In recent days (Centos 4.4 has only been installed for a little over a week), like, since Wed or Thu last week, every time I reboot Kudzu wants to remove the network adaptors then reinstall them and breaks the network. I've gone to the point of disabling one of
