I've never quite been able to get printing working 100% under samba and am beginning to wonder if it's a problem with the way the printing subsystem is set up under Redhat. Anyway - I've got samba installed and acting as PDC for a variety of WinNT and Win98

disabling offline caching from samba
I'm preparing to roll out a bunch of win XP clients and and am running down all the quirks that come up in the application log on my test box. 1) AutoEnrollement fails - samba is not an active directory so this makes sense it must be disabled by editing the group policy with gpedit.msc computer configuration->windows settings -> security settings -> public key policies ->

I can now login to my domain from an XP Pro client, as a normal user. Only problem is, I get this: Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. roaming profiles problem for new users
Due to hardware failure we had a rushed migration from a Samba v3.0.9 on FreeBSD 4, to v3.0.10 on Mandrake Linux 10.1. Since then I have had problems getting roaming profiles to work for new users. Things works fine for existing users, but things are broken for new ones. The setup is a fairly standard Samba PDC with Windows XP clients. When users added since the upgrade log in, they then do

When I log out, the following message gets sent to the event logger: [quote] Windows has detected that

Samba PDC
Does Samba3 require windows machine accounts? I need to have users authenticate to a Samba PDC and be able to run logon scripts when authenticated, BUT NOT have to have machine accounts for every user be setup. In other words, can the user authenticate without his/her machine being part of the Domain? Thanks, Rich

upgraded old smb system to new release with a few errors
I moved an old smb system (version 2) over to a completely new system with version 3.0.7 running on FC2. I just copied the config files over and then ran swat and adjusted any problems that I found. Then save the swat config and started the smb server. Gosh be Good! It worked just fine. But... I stared noticing entries like these in the logs:
