Hi, I have a box running Mandrake 8.2 and samba 2.2.4 on an NT domain. smbpasswd -j says it joins the domain ok, I use the included sys-auth-windbind file for pam, and the winbind entries are in nsswitch.conf. Everything appears to be running, but when I try wbinfo -u I get "Error looking up domain users". getent passwd only return the linux accounts. Yet wbinfo -t returns

I've got a Samba box (2.2.5a) as a member of a Samba domain. Both the PDC and client are running 2.4.18 with XFS and ACLs compiled in. Problem: on the client, I can -NOT- modify the ACLs for files from Windows. (Note that I can modify the stock Unix permissions, but not the extended users/permissions that ACL support offers.) If I try, they just vanish when I click "OK".

FYI... I've just posted a snapshot of the current SAMBA_2_2 source code (tagged release-2-2-6pre2). This includes all of the post 2.2.5 printing fixes as well as fixing some other bugs (such as VxFS quota support). Please test and report back your experience. There have been some updates to the Mandrake packaging thanks to Buchan. We are not building RPMS or *debs for this pre-release.

I can upload most drivers to samba (2.2.6pre). However when it comes to the built-in windows XP drivers I am faced with a dialog box asking for the driver location. Hi, I've just install samba 2.2 with ldap support, it is working just fine. I've create some samba users using smbpasswd and they are inserted into the ldap directory. But, I was wondering if it was possible to delegate the full authentification process to ldap. That's to say completely remove any information from /etc/passwd? Hi, I have setup /etc/pam.d/system-auth as below. But when I login to the Linux Box from KDE3, I get a prompt saying I don't have write access to the HOME. Then got kicked out. In NT Domain, when I double click on the Samba machine, I get network path not found. What am I doing wrong? Please help. How can i use a dat tape on another remote LM9 machine. Using tar and keeping the original ownership/permissions. or smbmount to the machine with the files on and again keeping the original ownership/permissions. Many Thanks Ken

I am running Mandrake 9.0 and have installed OpenLDAP by using RPMDrake and installing it from a package included on the CD's. When I run ./configure it never finds the installation. How can I fix this? Is OpenLDAP absolutely required to get Samba working with Windows 2003? Thanks Matt
