Asterisk @ Home & BroadVoice (Outbound) help
Hello, I'm using Asterisk@Home. I'm still new to
Asterisk, and trying to grasp it all.
I'm wanting to do a simple setup of One SIP provider
(Broadvoice) and 3 SIP Software Phones.
I'm able to call the VoIP provided line fine and get
dropped to the digital receptionist (or mailbox).
However, when I try to send outbound calls I get
"Error 503 Service Unavailable" and

samba 3.0 as PDC and Winxp
Hi,
I setup a samba 3.0alpha24-1 as PDC (simple with smbpasswd without LDAP:-(
).
With Windows 2000 everything works fine (server profiles, mapping the home
directory of the users as Z:/ etc.)
But :-(
Windows XP I could join the domain (without any trouble). But I could not
login as a user. Windows XP returns domain is not accessible (die domain ist
nicht verf?gbar).
But when I login to the

What makes you think that? AFAIK --as-cran just sets a bunch of the (nearly
countless) environment variables (all described in R Inst+Admin, as I recall)
to a set of values "close to"

Next message unexpectedly corrupted in mbox file
Hi,
I am seeing this on one of my servers:
Jan 8 10:08:58 l1 dovecot: IMuser(user): Next message unexpectedly corrupted

I have never seen this before, and google yields no results except when
this warning was added to the source code here:

R CMD check --as-cran attempts to hide R_LIBS_USER but fails
AFAIU, 'R CMD check --as-cran' tries to hide any site and user package
libraries by setting R_LIBS_SITE and R_LIBS_USER. However, contrary
to R_LIBS_SITE, it fails for R_LIBS_USER and the user's personal
library is still available for test scripts. Should I revise my
assumptions, or is that intentional?
The short version. Shouldn't:
$ R_LIBS_USER='' Rscript --vanilla -e

using R's svd from outside R
Hi,
I have to compute the singular value decomposition of rather large
matrices. My test matrix is 10558 by 4255 and it takes about three
minutes in R to decompose on a 64bit quadruple core linux machine. (R is
running svd in parallel, all four cores are at their maximum load while
doing this.) I tried several blas and lapack libraries as well as the
gnu scientific library in my C++ programm.

samba 2.2.7a and multiple logins...
Hello
I use a new samba server with LDAP support as PDC for some Windows2000
and WindowsXP machines.
All is working nice. The useer can login with a user/password in the
domain, we have remote profiles, the user can access the samba shares
and print etc.
But after some time (< 1 day) we get a smbstatus output like the
attached file. Users are connected multiple times with the same share

R 2.6.2 is released
I've rolled up R-2.6.2.tar.gz a short while ago.
This is a maintenance release and fixes a number of mostly minor bugs.
See the full list of changes below.
You can get it (in a short while) from
http://cran.r-project.org/src/base/R-2/R-2.6.2.tar.gz
or wait for it to be mirrored at a CRAN site nearer to you. Binaries
for various platforms will appear in due course.

default_error_messages error with attachment_fu
Hi,
Just a newbie at Rails. Was looking at uploading images using
attachment_fu and RMagick on a Windows Vista machine, but was getting
this error. Any possible way of fixing this problem?
ActiveRecord::Errors.default_error_messages has been deprecated. Please
use I18n.translate(''activerecord.errors.messages'')
I guess it''s attributed to this line in attachment_fu.rb

unexpected result from reshape
Hi all.
I have unexpected reshape results on datasets with certain variable
names. Here a reproducible example:
d <- matrix(seq_len(7*7), 1, 7*7)
vnames <- c('acc','ppeGross','CF','ROA','DeltaSales','invTA','DeltaRevDeltaRec')
varying <- unlist(lapply(vnames, paste, 1:7, sep='.'))
d <- data.frame(d)
names(d) <- varying

Rails Monitoring, reprise
Last week I posted a question about monitoring Rails applications.
Basically, the java folks at my business cited one of their reasons
for sticking with Java is it''s monitoring tools. After picking some
ears, I found out that the one we''re looking at most is JBoss
Operations Network. And I have to say, it''s pretty neat.

Dovecot imaptest on RHEL4/GFS1, RHEL6/GFS2, NFS and local storage results
We have done some benchmarking tests using dovecot 2.0.12 to find the best
shared filesystem for hosting many users, here I share with you the results,
notice the bad perfomance of all the shared filesystems against the local
storage.
Is there any specific optimization/tunning on dovecot for use GFS2 on
rhel6??, we have configured the director to make the user mailbox persistent
