Samba password changes?
hi,
i've setup a LDAP server with account information,
and compiled samba with ldap support.
everything works great, except for the password changes
i still have to run two seprate commands ( passwd, smbpasswd )
to change a users password.
i've tried to put the pam_smbpasswd.so module into
system-auth, but that does work?
any pointers?
thanks

demo cd 3.0.3 on non-pae machine
Hi all,
Would it be possible to include support for a non-pae capable machines
on the demo cd. The 3.0 version worked but the 3.0.3 version fails with
Cannot execute PAE-enabled kernel on a PAE-less CPU!
(Please CC me since I am not subscribed to the list)
Thanks,

Bug#407141: xen-utils-3.0.3-1: please provide 32bit domU kernels on amd64 arch
Package: xen-utils-3.0.3-1
Version: 3.0.3-0-2
Severity: wishlist
Xen can run 32bit domU clients on 64bit (amd64) dom0. Unfortunately only amd64
linux-image-xen packages are available on arch amd64. Please provide 686 packages
as well (if possible). This would enable the installation of 32bit clients without
the need to manually compile a kernel.
Feel free to reassign this bug to the correct

Palm m50x & the USB stack
[It seems the last time this came up was in march, under the heading of "Sony
Cybershot should be in hardware notes". This message is intended mainly to
document what I've managed to track down.]
The m500s still will not sync with pilot-link 0.11.7 in -STABLE. An easily
triggerable panic is another issue [1]. The pilot-link code first opens
/dev/ugenX and then switches to

How to configure samba domain member to use LDAPS instead of LDAP
The DC is a Windows AD DC.
Could you please clarify why i should change setting in the Windows DC
instead of the Samba server, which is the one that does the insecure
ldap bind?

[LLVMdev] JIT pass runtime struct on to subroutines
Hi
For a research project at my university, I'm working on incorporating JIT in Prolog, which is basically an interpreted virtual machine.
The VM uses logical units of functionality called 'predicates' which are composed of bytecode that represents the machine instructions the VM supports.
At execution time, the VM infinitately loops over these bytecodes and, using a giant switch

Fileserver advice needed
I have a domain with two Samba DC's
I don't want to use either of them as a fileserver, so I want to build a
separate file server which is not a DC, which will deliver all the files to
the lovely little windows users (including their roaming profiles).
I've been looking online and there seems to be a thousand different ways to
"join" my fileserver to the domain, but most of

Hello you all,
with the new samba version out that fixes some problems with dns
scavenging I have decided to try this feature.
I was specifically interested for our reverse zone (PTR records)
We have one zone for VPN clients 8.0.10.in-addr.arpa. I activated the
feature in the smb.conf as well as in the Windows DNS manager.
Entries are deleted (not visible in DNS manager) after a while.

wilcoxon-pratt signed rank test in R - drug-effiacy
Hi.
I'm going to introduce the R-package for a group of medical doctors later
this week and is a little confused about there use of a test named
"willcoxon-pratt" for testing if the clinical and biochemical markers has
decreased significantly after the use of some drugs for a group of patients.
Looking into the R-functions I would in R recommand using a matched-pairs

Inetd.conf
I was reading thru the manual following the directions for installing Samba
and for Mac OS X you are supposed to set the inetd.conf file and the
services file. I did so but when ever I reboot the computer it never starts
up the samba or swat. Anyone have any other ideas on what to do?
Thanks

Is python3 standard or available for Centos 8 ?
Not sure if python is used here though.
