CentOS update broke Samba
Running CentOS Linux release 7.7.1908. Have Samba running as our fileserver on our (mostly) Windows network. Ran my "normal" yum updates today, and Samba was upgraded (last updates were on 8/10/2019). I was on 4.8.3 before; now it's 4.9.1:

Slow Copy WinXX - Linux/Samba :-(
I never thought it would happen to me, but it did...
I have read threads about slow copies from WinXX to Linux/Samba on the
list in the past, but I don't recall a concise answer regarding what the
cause was.
THE PROBLEM:
Trying to copy an 8 meg file from Win95 to my Linux/Samba box (named
"Nemesis" - for good reason), the transfer speed slows to a crawl. The

Samba locks with PC crash
We are experiencing this current problem: some users are locking Lotus Notes
files on a Samba share. When their pc crash (ex: power off the pc without
shutting down windows), the file is still locked. So when they boot up a few
mins after the crash, they can't open Lotus Notes because some files are still
locked by themself. So we need to kill the samba process. This is happening a

All Wine dialog boxes have the mouse symbol out of position
I've just installed Wine.
Every Wine dialog box/window, on mouseOver, jumps the mouse cursor left and up, but sends mouse clicks to where the mouse would/should be.
In other words, when I roll the mouse over any Wine box, the arrow symbol immediately moves left and up, then subsequently moves in relation to how I move the mouse, until the original mouse location exits the dialog box, when the

Problems with printing=plp
Hello,
i've some problems with the plp printer spooler on linux:
I changed from bsd printing to plp printing.
Previously (with bsd style printing) i was able to browse and delete active
printjobs, stop and activate printers from within the win9x/winnt boxes.
After changing to plp this is no longer possible. The printjobs themself are
still printed.
Some output in the log.smb (with debug

I have a big flac file, i can divide this flac file into chunks by visual basic code, i can add header to these chunks by copying first 1K to other chunks, but chunks can not play properly, i think i need to change filesize from file headers of these chunks, i can read samplerate and samples count from header, but i do not know how can i calculate file size without reading all file, what

disabling prelink?
What are the pros and cons of disabling prelinking in CentOS 4?
From what I understand, prelinking is ment to be performance
improvement (faster loading time for binaries). I can see some
potential benefit on workstations where many different processes are
started frequently. But how big is that benefit in real life? Would
I slow down things noticably if there is no prelinking?

How to control DTMF tone duration on Zap channels?
Hi,
I am using zap channels, and by using sendDTFM application, I can control
the duration between two DTMF digits, but I can't find a way to control the
duration of the digits themself. Did search on the Internet and found out
that I can change it in the asterisk source files and recompile asterisk.
Wiki also says that it can be controlled using toneduration option in
zapata.conf, but it

But when i try to do it in a secure way i can?t make it work. Samba4
