FW: Windows 2000 and Samba
No one had any other offerings here? I can't find anything that clears this up. And this machine can get to a Linux based Samba server just fine. IP Binding
Hi all, New to Samba here so please bear with dumb questions. I have a server that's currently running SMB shares off of device 10.0.0.1 on a private network. It has a second device, 10.0.0.2 that I would like to add to the device bindings for Samba. I've tried this in the smb.conf file but it doesn't seem to work. Here's what I tried: workgroup = SOMECOMPANY netbios

Samba and Win2K failures
Hi all, I posted here about this last week and still haven't found a solution to this. I have an AIX 4.4.3 system running Samba (not sure what version) in a WinNT4/Win2k environment. Some of the Win2k machines have mysteriously lost their ability to communicate with the Samba server on the AIX box but can still connect to the Linux Samba servers. I've installed Service Pack 2 onto the

Strange server string behavior
I am in the process of building a server to replace a very old one and have copied the smb.conf file over the the new machine. It's a relatively small config with all the stuff removed that we don't need. It's also the only file that I've copied from the old machine. Before the SMB service was ever started I copied the contents of the file, changed the server string from

Is HP server hardware incompatible with Xen?
Hi, We''ve been using xen with pc clones for some time now. But now the boss wants to get serious and start using real servers. We''ve been looking at HP. I got in touch with a couple of distributors for prices and much to my suprise, I''ve been told by one HP Partner that Xen does not run on HP hardware. (a ProLiant ML 150) He continued to tell me that he could offer me

oplocks and samba 2.2.7
About two months ago our sysadmin upgraded to samba 2.2.7 and we have not had any oplock problems since. A heartfelt thanks from the University of Wisconsin in Madison to the Samba team for all their hard work. If our hundreds of users understood what was going on behind the scenes, they'd be thanking you too. --- Sam Barasch Computer Systems Support Department of Biostatistics

Hardware support
What's the current state of hardware support for Ogg Vorbis? Any decent players out there? I have an iRiver iHP-120 and am thinking about upgrading, any recommendations? Phil Hibbs. [LLVMdev] Compilation error in 64 Bit PowerPC machine with Yellowdog Linux 6.1
Hi, i am trying to compile llvm in a 64 Bit PowerPC machine with Yellowdog Linux 6.1 operating system. I could compile llvm but when I was trying to compile the llvm-gcc4.2 front end the compilation aborted with following error message: ../../gcc/config/rs6000/rs6000.c: In function ‘rs6000_override_options’: ../../gcc/config/rs6000/rs6000.c:1510: error: ‘MASK_MACHO_DYNAMIC_NO_PIC’ undeclared

Does smbtar have a size limit ?
Hello. I'm trying to use smbtar/smbclient (2.0.3) to copy an NTFS share on an NT Server, onto a Solaris 2.5 system. The NTFS partition is 10Gb. At the 2Gb mark, the tar stops. No errors, the file just stops. The process (smbtar) returns. Is this a problem with Solaris 2.5 ? I believe it is, and if I upgrade to 2.6, I can create larger tar files. However, does anyone know if

Quotas and Netatalk Support ?
I've just noticed that --with-netatalk and --with-quotas are options to configure for samba. Is anyone using these options on Solaris 7, and what do they do and how well ? I'd really like to display a users quota as "disk size" and their remaining space as "disk free". Is --with-quotas the right way to go about this ? I also run netatalk. Do I need to use

[LLVMdev] dragonegg on PPC
Duncan, et al., I am interested in getting dragonegg to work on PowerPC. Obviously the stuff in src/x86 needs to be replaced/replicated for PowerPC, but if you have a few minutes, can you provide your thoughts on what has to be changed between x86 and PPC. rsync 2.5.5 compilation problems
Hi, I compiled rsync on an HPUX 11i box, and got lots of errors about redefining sendfile() and sendpath(). The compilation succeeded, but the binary failed. I then took a binary I had compiled on an HP11.00 box, and it worked fine. I tried this with both gcc & the HP ansic compilers. The same results. I am attaching a full transcript of the configure & compilation session. The ld

angry red X's & disconnected drives
Esteemed Ladies and Gentlemen of the Samba list, I have a curious problem on one of my windows 2000 machines. As soon as the user connects to a samba share, they are disconnected and the drive appears marked with a red X The samba logs indicate that 10-20 seconds after any user of this machine connects to a network drive, they are disconnected. Oddly enough, you can browse the contents of

Android App?
One of the things that annoys me about my current mobile phone is that I cannot use it to play music (naturally all encoded as Ogg Vorbis) as the phone only supports proprietary formats. I wonder if things will be any better with phones using the Android platform - whether anyone has plans to make an open format based player for it and whether there will be any restrictions uploading such an app

Time Synchronisation
Hi. I'm running on a Windows 98 client and an RS6000 with Samba 2.0.7 (latest). I've used "net time \\ibrissde /SET /YES" to sync the times between the two systems ... but if I save a file onto the RS6000 through Samba on a mapped drive the file in UNIX is 1 hour old. I haven't been able to find any help on this so I'm assuming it's a bug !? This was also true

[LLVMdev] Odd PPC inline asm constraint
Hello, I am not sure whether this is a clang issue, an LLVM issue, or both; but clang chokes when parsing expanded macros from the glibc /usr/include/bits/fenvinline.h with an error like: ./boost/math/tools/config.hpp:279:10: error: invalid input constraint 'i#*X' in asm feclearexcept(FE_ALL_EXCEPT); ^ /usr/include/bits/fenvinline.h:56:11: note: expanded from macro
