Samba 2.0.3 in Domain
We're encountering sporadic difficulties with Samba 2.0.3 on Sun SPARC
Solaris 2.5.1 and 2.7 running in "security = DOMAIN" mode. The PDC logs an
error 5722, with text
"The session setup from the computer MERCURY failed to authenticate. The
name of the account referenced in the security database is MERCURY$. The
following error occurred:
Access is denied.".

NT ACL's
I've been trying to use the NT ACL's which have been added to Samba. While
it's very nice to be able to view the settings, I've noticed that it accepts
changes made from NT Explorer's permissions property page, but the changes
are not actually made. Am I doing something wrong or is this a limitation of
the current implementation of this feature? It would be extremely nice for

Problems with Samba 2.0.6 under Solaris 7
We've inadvertently discovered a bug in the client_name function when our
dns was temporarily damaged. We have a "hosts allow" function that has IP
addresses only to contrain mounts to within our network. When clients would
attempt to connect, if their reverse IP lookup failed - in theory just to
log the name of the connecting host, the originating IP address was being
mangled and

Samba 2.0.6 Interfaces
We're had some recurring problems with nmbd's on Solaris 2.7 and Irix 6.5
failing to renew their WINS registrations in a timely manner causing the
records to become tombstoned. While we've solved it by issuing "pkill" and
"killall", respectively, of nmbd nightly from root's crontab, I wanted to
alert the authors and other administrators to the problem so similar

Syntax for crossed random effects in nlme
Hello R users,
I've read the posts on this topic, and had a look at the R documentation for
nlme, but I can't seem to make this work. I'd like to be able to fit a mixed
effects model with crossed random effects, but also be able to specify the
covariance matrix structure for the residuals. Here's the syntax using the
lmer function in lme4 (which doesn't currently allow

Configure client with no Win server.
Hello,
Could someone please tell me how to configure for this case.
After going through all types of documentation, I think my case is
either too simple or impossible that's why it's nowhere mentioned.
I would appreciate very much if someone could point me to the right
direction.
I have two laptops one running Linux and is a Samba server. One is

Displaying p-values in latex
Hi. I want to create a table in latex with regression coefficients and their
corresponding p-values. My code is below. How do I format the p-values so
that values less than 0.0001 are formated as <.0001 rather than just rounded
to 0.0000? Thank you.
model<-lm(y~x1+x2)
output<-summary(model)
output<-as.matrix(coefficients(output))
output<-format.df(ouput,cdec=c(2,2,2,4))

Antw: SSh 3.1p1
Hi Markus,
it has bin tested by me against HP/UX 11.0 in the mode "trusted system" and worked well. Since PAM-authentification is default in 11.00 you must not activate it via the configure switch "--with-pam". If you like I can send you a depot-file and the prndg-package by Lutz Jaenicke as a depot as well because I compiled the ssh with use of it for generating entropie.

problems with rounding in output
Perhaps someone will have a solution to my more general problem, but
here is the specific one:
I used the round() function to round some estimates to 3 decimal
places. I then sent put the rounded estimates in a matrix and used
latex() to make a LaTeX table from them. However, in my table, there
are estimtes which only have 2 decimal places. I assume that the third
decimal place in these numbers

Confidence Bands in Polynomial Regression
Hello R users,
Given a linear (in the parameters) regression model where one predictor x
interacts with time and time*time (ie, a quadratic effect of time t):
y = b0 + b1(x) + b2(t) + b3(t^2) + b4(x*t) + b5(x*t^2) + e,
I would like to construct 95% confidence bands (optimally, shaded) around
this function:
*dy* = b1 + b4(t) + b5(t^2)
*dx*
That is, the partial effect of x on y changing over

Linux and Samba vs WIN2K
Hi Folks,
First let me introduce myself. My name is Mike Maki. I work as an IT
specialist for a Federal agency, the National Park Service, in the Santa
Monica Mountains National Recreation Area in Thousand Oaks. I have attended
a few SCLUG meetings in the past at the old Nortel building but have not
been able to attend lately. I do watch this list closely and have gained
much from it.

Dovecot 2.2.4 : Panic: file pop3-client.c: line 585 (client_default_destroy): assertion failed: (client->cmd == NULL)
This doesn't seem to affect clients, but I'm seeing an occasional pop3
error in the log over the last week.
Any ideas what is causing this?
Thanks,
Ken

Dovecot LDA has been working fine for me but when I tried to follow the

In postfix/main.cf I went from:

Added this:

imap abort after upgrade from 2.2.4 to 2.2.7
Hi,
I used to use dovecot 2.2.4. I saw lots of warnings saying 'Extension header update points outside header size'.
I upgraded to dovecot 2.2.7, based on the discussion in mail list. Now, I see lots of imap aborts around:
src/lib-index/mail-index-transaction-export.c:203: i_assert(u32.offset + u32.size <= ext_hdr_size);
I also noticed, in some mailbox, imap process kept
