.ssh/: Is a directory
I'm depending on scp to create the .ssh directory (which is does) but it can't use the directory it just created in the current session thus the "error" message. I would like to run the command just once if possible :) Is it possible I could get a patch if this is changed? [root /root]# ls -la total 84 drwxr-x--- 9 root root 4096 Dec 17 19:18 . drwxr-xr-x 16

Centos 4.1 on RaQ 550?
Has anyone ever tried to install 4.0 or 4.1 on an old Sun RaQ 550 Cobalt machine? If so would you be willing to share your procedure and experience? I have spent several hours googling and have found how to do this with Fedora Core 1 using a 2.4 kernel. However I am wondering what Cobalt specific patches have to be applied to get 2.6 kernel to work. I have not found anything related to

Can't connect to a win2k system.
I've been using samba for sharing files on my Linux box. This works quite well, but I'm having some problems accessing a share on my Win2k box: pink:/home/miller/samba/bin# smbclient -L hyperion added interface ip=192.168.1.3 bcast=192.168.1.255 nmask=255.255.255.0 timeout connecting to 192.168.1.2:139 Connection to hyperion failed (BTW, nmblookup hyperion fails, yet smbclient resolves

Compiling on a Cobalt RaQ1
Hello, I've downloaded version 2.5.2 and I tried compiling that one on a Cobalt RaQ1 server (maybe anyone has heard of them, they have that neat blue front). What I want is to make the RaQ1 a remote backup server, so I thought Rsync would be usefull... The compilation did not work, it stalled trying to compile clientserver.c (or something, I cannot acces the RaQ from where I am now). There

rsync digest, Vol 1 #778 - 11 msgs
I haven't gotten it to work successfully, I'm still struggling with the same setgroups error that you are. However, I can tell you what I have tried. So far I have rsync configured to run in --daemon mode using the command: sudo rsync --daemon I can prompt it for a list of modules, but when I go to copy a module, I get the error @ERROR: setgroups failed. I can copy locally, from one HD to

Connecting to yp.shoutcast.com

Personally speaking, I've been streaming for quite a while (barring a few networking problems) and I've always seen the same behavior from the shoutcast (Nullsoft) people.

rsync 2.5.5 and Mac OS X
Greetings, Has anyone successfully compiled rsync 2.5.5 under Mac OS X (not Server), and actually have it work fully? I'm in a position where I'm trying to setup an automated nightly remote backup between and Cobalt Raq4 (running a variant of Redhat Linux) and a Mac running OS X 10.1.5 with the latest development tools installed. As has been pointed out previously on the list, one has

user mapping
I was wondering if it would be possible to keep a user/uid <-> file map so that root access wouldn't be necessary to store the files and retrieve them with the correct original usernames (or uids), specifying a filename on the command line as something like .rsyncuidmap. Or even a file system stored in a file that could be "mounted" by rsync and written any uid/gid etc that

open ssl
I am trying to get any version of sshd working on a cobalt raq3/4(one of each). I tried ssh.com's version(1.2.31) and I got linking errors. I am going to try to install openssh, but I need to install openssl, and was wondering if that will mess up the web server on the raqs. Any responses are welcome. errors: gcc -pipe -c -I. -I./gmp-2.0.2-ssh-2 -I./zlib-1.0.4 -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -DHOST

Usernames and Passwords for Virtual Users Request
A feature I think would be nice. When a single IP hosts email for multiple domains the solution is usually to use the complete email address as the username. I have users that have migrated from Cobalt RAQ's which do not work like that. If a user trys to authenticate with just there username such as "joeb" instead of joeb at dirt.com I would like Dovecot to check all the

Trouble with large files and 1.9.18p10
Hi Folks, I'm new to the list, and am writing because of some trouble I am having. An old version of Samba is involved, and I am not sure that I can upgrade. I am trying to explore the issue further. I am currently using Samba 1.9.18p10 (I can hear the smack of 1,000 hands slapping foreheads now -- please read on). The problem is that the Samba server hangs when I copy a large file (~100

logons
I am running samba 1.9.18p10 on a Cobalt Qube2. Logins from Win98 machines were working fine until I installed patches 3.0 and 3.0.1 from Cobalt and now I get the error "... couldn't find service netlogon" Then, when more than 1 PC tries to access a file off one of the shares, smbd starts to eat 98% of the CPU and the log file says: "receive_local_message. NetPBM
Greetings, I am setting up a CentOS+BlueQuartz server, replacing my Cobalt machine. On my Cobalt I had installed a set of pre-made binary's for netpbm. Using "yum search", I found and installed "netpbm.i386" but I am at a loss as to how to use the resulting libraries from my php scripts etc.? Do I need to install the netpbm-progs.i386 and netpbm-devel.i386 also?? -
