Problems with Windows 2003 connecting a Samba server
Hi list, I am encountering a problem in connecting a Windows 2003 to a Samba 3.0.21b server. The Samba server is configured to have a security = share option, so that no password is needed. I can connect to the server by typing "net use z: \\192.168.51.1\data", and it is successful. However, if I try to do "dir z:", no file found! Same behaviour are found in Windows

Getting "Invalid HTTP format, parsing fails." from one client
Hi! I am new to Mongrel but really like it so far. We''ve been running a single instance for our test server for about a week now. When one of our editors accesses the site, they receive a blank white page in Firefox and/or IE6/Win. In Mongrel logs we see this: Wed Aug 09 16:25:30 PDT 2006: BAD CLIENT (192.168.2.42): Invalid HTTP format, parsing fails. Wed Aug 09 16:25:31 PDT

Authentication failure when accessing Samba server in a NT domain
Hello Samba Gurus, I have configured my Samba install to be a domain member of a NT4-Style domain. The version of samba used is 3.0.13. The domain joining process worked fine (net rpc join). An excerpt of smb.conf is provided at the end for reference. The problem is that when users access this server, they are challenged for the username password. I was of the impression that this process would

explorer freezes on right-clicking .exe's
I'm using samba 2.1 pre-alpha. When I right click an .exe file on the most shares, explorer freezes, and must be killed to recover. The problem doesn't show up on the home shares, but appears on any other shares I create. I've experienced this problem on many different workstations. Looking at the logs, it seems to be a problem with oplocks; the part of the log that seems to apply is

Special characters in an R package manual
Dear all, I have some trouble with special characters while building my R package. I tried to follow the usual LATEX format, but could not fix the problem: For instance, for "greater than or equal", I tried "\geq", but R says that this is an unknown macro. Could anyone direct me how to solve this issue? Best Ozgur ----- ************************************ Ozgur ASAR

ACI appraisal program "freezes" when accessing SAMBA shares
Hi all, Our company uses a buggy piece of appraisal software called ACI Rapid Report. We recently switched from Netware 3.1 to Samba 2.0.4b for file serving, and since then have been unable to create new documents in ACI. Before creating a new document, ACI forms a list of all .aci files in the "data" directory. Locally, this takes a few seconds. On Netware, it took about a minute.

unix_convert cause of windows freeze?
Hello, I've got an application, ACI Rapid Research for Windows, which is causing me a ton of problems under SAMBA. When the program goes to create its own list of valid files to work from, it ends up calling unix_convert on each file in the directory. The problem is that unix_convert then goes and calls name_map_mangle() twice for every file in the directory -- and I've got 3025 files.

Warning message: numerical expression has 1000 elements: only the first used
Hi, Your mistake seems to be in sum(v[1:x]) You create "x" as a vector but your treat it as a single number. v[1:x] expects "x" to be a single number and only considers its first element which is 1. If I understand your query correctly, the following might handle your problem: sum.vec <-NULL for (x in 1:1000){ t <- rbinom(1000, 1, 0.5) v <- replace(t,t==0,-1)

submission of some functions to base package
Dear all, Actually I could not decide who to contact, then decided to post here. If not appropriate sorry for that. I have written some functions in R which might be supposed to available in the base package but not available. I am wondering that how can I submit those functions to that package? Possibly a security flaw...
A summary of my problem, I had wrong UIDs for a user (eg pmal) between the /etc/passwd file and the smbpasswd file. When I was trying to loggin from a couple of machines running either win nt or win 98 I was reading in the log files that the loggin could not be completed because the UID were wrong but there were instances were I could loggin from another computer with the same username. I really

Unable to join samba server to a NT4 style domain
Hello, I have installed Samba version 3.0.13 on a Solaris 9 machine and am trying to add it to an existing NT domain as a member server. I have followed the instructions in Chapter 2 of the Samba HOW-TO collection for adding a samba server as a Domain member. The problem is that when i use the net rpc join command to join the domain, I get the following error: # ./net rpc join -U

network. I did read somewhere on the web (several years ago) of a guy who managed to boot windows from the net. With the start of Win 98/ME/ etc.etc it's not posible anymore. I currently use PXE to install machine from the net using bpbatch that works great only bpbatch is not really under developnt and the script language is a bit buggy. I see only one option to boot windows from the net and
