I'm using samba 2.1 pre-alpha. When I right click an .exe file on the most shares, explorer freezes, and must be killed to recover. The problem doesn't show up on the home shares, but appears on any other shares I create. I've experienced this problem on many different workstations. Looking at the logs, it seems to be a problem with oplocks; the part of the log that seems to apply is below. If anyone can help me with this problem, it would be greatly appreciated. log level 5: [1999/12/16 11:15:27, 5] smbd/open.c:open_file_shared(879) open_file_shared: breaking oplock (3) on file edi/install/status/status211.exe , dev = 341, inode = 1962023 [1999/12/16 11:15:27, 5] smbd/oplock.c:request_oplock_break(861) request_oplock_break: breaking our own oplock [1999/12/16 11:15:27, 3] smbd/oplock.c:oplock_break(583) oplock_break: called for dev = 341, inode = 1962023.
