NT Backups
Given that rsync, smbclient and smbmount are all kissin' cousins, this seems like a good place to post this question. I'm building a linux backup server which will be archiving other linux and some NT servers. The Linux boxes are being rsynced over ssh, so everything is happy there. The NT servers were initially going to be smbmounted and rsynced, but this ended up hanging about 30%

Error with function lda in package MASS (dimnames not equal?)
This question appears to have been asked previously, but not answered. the last response I can find to this previous thread is here: http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/04/07/0126.html. The asnwer was to provide debugging info, not an answer. So the problem is that I'm trying to use lda on my dataset. You can download my data here: http://northstar-www.dartmouth.edu/~jgilbert/nolda, I used

samba backup software
I'm curious to what people are using for backing up their samba servers. Here's are some specs to consider: - 1TB (yes, that's terabyte) of data - multiple servers backup to one tape drive connected to a server (preferably a linux system) - using an autoloader (in this case, an HP 1/9 LTO system) - need to be able to backup daily changes and/or changes since last full backup

arm64 support
I have used the patch to build opus 1.1. Although I have not tried the latest git master, will try that. Will that work for armv7, armv7s and arm64? Archive attribute
Our tape backup software (run through windows) backs up items based on whether the archive attribute is set or not. If it is set, then it needs to be backed up. Then it removes the attribute. When a user modifies a file, the attribute is again set. This is how it normally works. Samba will not allow the Archive Attribute to be unchecked. Is there anyway to allow this functionality. Samba

Spiral SIP Request problem
Hello, I am using OpenSIPS to register all the users and planning to use asterisk for Auto Attendant, Queues, Voicemail and Conference Bridge. I have a scenario where the signaling does not happen properly: 1) A user from Opensips dials an extension 7000 which is an auto-attendant extension. The call is routed to asterisk to play the auto attendant messages like Welcome and Dial the

Automounting
Is there a way to make samba automatically mount a home directory? That is, a user logging in (from Linux), enters its username and password(Samba), and the system automatically mounts the user's home directory from the samba server(without asking the password again). Has anyone ever tried to do this? And succedeed :-) ? -- nneves@di.fc.ul.pt Dept. Informatica, Fac.

remove my email address
I am starting to receive a lot of unsolicited email at work. I did a web search on my name to see if my email address is accessible on any web sites. I got a hit on this site http://samba.cadcamlab.org/lists/samba/Dec2000/00720.html which is a message I sent to your list server a couple of years ago. Please remove my email address from the web page. Thanks. Lloyd Baldwin Computer Systems

archive bit mapping problems with 2.2.3a
Hello, I've just tested the latest stable (2.2.3a) version of samba and see the same problem I was having with the archive bit mapping as I had with 2.2.2. I sent in a bug report and two emails to this list but no feedback yet. I'm pulling my hair out trying to get this fixed. Please help. I am trying to do the following, new files get the archive bit set, and then the user or account

xyplot: modify axis tick marks
Hi, I would like to plot time against rainfall data (data is at the end) using xyplot. The basic code looks like this: xyplot(rainfall~time, type="a") When I do this, the graph looks ok except that the x-axis has too many values. I would just like to display the years and not the months on the x-axis. I've been fiddling around with 'scales', and read previous posts about

Old bug resurfacing?
I found this in the archives: http://samba.cadcamlab.org/lists/samba/Feb2002/00318.html It pertains pretty directly to the problem I'm seeing. I first started having it with my 2.7 installed version so I upgraded to 2.8. I'm still having the same problem. Basically, I have a group of web developers that use the linux/samba server for editing files for the site. All the files are

Annoying bug in package cairoDevice
I sent this to R-Help and the listed maintainer of cairoDevice, I hope that was the right thing to do. For some reason, Cairo_png puts a box around a figure when you call plot.new. It looks like box was called with black and a transparent background. Example: > library(cairoDevice) > Cairo_png('cairo.png') > plot.new() > dev.off() null device 1 The boarder is

AW: authentification problems
Hi Tom, meanwhile I'm using Samba 2.2.8a, and I don't have a real solution for the problem. I managed to reduce the occurance of the error by using "security = domain" and "password server = *". The problem occures only on about 6% of all clients (log level 1, max log size 300kB). So I decided to ignore these errors. If a user complains about that (PW query pops up,

Win2k & 2.0.7
When I try to join the Win2k machine to a domain, I get the following message: The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "WIN2K": The procedure number is out of range. This is a Win2k PC attempting to join to AIX 4.3.2 running samba 2.0.7. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bill -- /------------------------------------------------------\
