Samba3+Win9x userlist, Bug?!
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Dear List, Few days ago I've posted, that my Win9x boxes are unable to get the list of domain users and groups from samba-3.0.0 server (for details see bug 596). Unfortunately the same is true for samba-3.0.1pre1. Please people also having win9x boxes and Samba3 PDC confirm that it is a bug, or a configuration error. Thanks for any suggestion.

[offtopic] Fedora 11 RPM's funny?
Is there something funny about rpm in Fedora 11 that causes cpio errors when trying to install src.rpm's in CentOS 5.3, or am I just getting repeated bad downloads?

smbmount deprecated - what about Windows 9x?
Hallo, I've just installed Kernel 2.6.25.2 - works fine. But now when I use "smbmount" for mounting shares from my Win9x clients the system (kernel) tells me smbfs is deprecated and will be removed from the 2.6.27 kernel. Please migrate to cifs. But at least Win9x seems not to like cifs. Mounting via smbfs works since years, mounting (with the same options) via cifs

Win9x via Kix unable to get extended user attributes
Hi all, In trying to upgrade Samba here, I have built various versions from 3.0.11 to 3.0.14a using various versions of gcc and the Sun compiler (this is on Solaris SPARC) and had the following problem in all cases. Running the built samba as a logon server, I find that WinXP clients work fine but Win9X clients have some difficulties. The problem is that the Win9X logon script can't

User list problem on Win9x.
I'm a bit confused about user enumeration on Win9x boxes. I've got a couple of machines running SaMBa. One (M2Dual) is running 2.0.7 with security = domain and domain server = M2Hub. The other (M2Hub) is running 2.2.3a with security = user. I also have three Win9x machines. All have user level security turned on. Roving profiles work on all machines and all users. Logon scripts run

2nd try: sync of passwd and smbpasswd
Hello, I'm using samba2.02 and shadowed passwords. I' m on the way to migrate from plaintext to encrypted passwords. Therefore I've set the parameter update encrypted to "Yes". After everyone has logged in I will set this parameter to "No" again and set encrypted passwd = Yes. So far, so good. But three questions are remaining for me: a) what to do with those who

Major network slowdown today... Samba the cause?
Today, our network has been excruciatingly slow. I checked the log.nmb file, and I noticed that today, the Samba PDC has been losing its "local master browser" status every 2 minutes or so, for about 15 seconds, to a Win9x client. Before today, this also happened, but only a few times each day. Network configuration: 1. All clients are Win9x. 2. Server is SuSE 6.1, with Samba 2.0.5.

nbtstat doesn't show MAC address for samba servers
On Win9x I issue the command: nbtstat -a <netbios name> If <netbios name> is a Win9x machine I got the MAC address of that machine on the last line of the command output. If it's a samba server the MAC address is not returned: MAC Address = 00-00-00-00-00-00 Is there anyone who gest the MAC address back from a samba server? -- giulioo@tiscalinet.it

Wine Conformance Test on Windows 9x, how to report?
I've run two conformance test binary (winetest-latest and winetest-8cbb8cc38d01) on Microsoft Windows Me 4.90.3000, both warned that Win9x was not supported, and I wouldn't be able to submit results. The lastest one said that there were about 67 tests failed (some wscript and msi error dialog appeared during the test) and it also said that there might be some problem with my

Problems adding a printer share
I have added an HP Deskjet 600 to my debian etch system, using CUPS. It is working fine. I would like to set it up so that I can occassionally print to it from a Windows 9x machine. This is where I seem to be having trouble. I consulted the HOW-TO docs on the samba site, but they are quite detailed and confusing (for me). I don't want to do anything that will cause the printer to work

SAMBA and Subnet Browsing
Hi, I have 3 Samba servers run Samba 2.0.7 on RH6.2, with Kernel 2.2.16-3. Everything seems to be OK, except that my Win9x clients cannot see other Win9x clients across the subnets. Each server has 2 n/w cards installed, with IP Forwading enabled etc. If the user knows the machine name, he can get access to the shared resources across all 3 subnets, but using the n/w neighbourhood browser, shows

Login scripts and Win9x clients
Hi all, I have two systems using Win98 and one using Win95. These three systems do not automatically execute their login scripts. I can map the network drives manually and tell them to reconnect at login, but I am wondering why they don't execute them. I can log in, browse to my netlogon share (if I make it browseable), and execute the script manually, and it works. Well, it mostly
