now that samba3 compile in my redhat 7.2 i want to test it.. reading the documentation that described the new features supported in samba3alpha i cant find too much explanation.. and here is the quiz: now from a win9x client when i see the list of users, i can see groups for adding to my win9x clients shares?? what is the state of support of changing password from a terminal like NT SERVER "change password in the first logon"?? what is the state and features of VFS in samba? now how i add a user and a group?? with the old smbpasswd?? or with the use of net command?? thx
Ariel Mella wrote:> what is the state and features of VFS in samba?VFS works quite well for me. But I still can use only one VFS module per share, even if I specify two modules, the last one will be "active". Hum, I thought this would be possible within Samba 3.0, but I haven't digged into it yet. We don't however have the client tools to set these paramaters, but you might be able to do it with user manager.> what is the state and features of VFS in samba? > now how i add a user and a group?? with the old smbpasswd?? or with the use > of net command??Old smbpasswd -- Andrew Bartlett abartlet@pcug.org.au Manager, Authentication Subsystems, Samba Team abartlet@samba.org Student Network Administrator, Hawker College abartlet@hawkerc.net http://samba.org http://build.samba.org http://hawkerc.net
Andrew: when i retireve the list of users from a win9x client gime and error.. and from the side of the servers this is logged: "[2001/12/01 21:49:52, 1] smbd/ipc.c:api_fd_reply(283) api_fd_reply: INVALID PIPE HANDLE: 0" when i use UserManager for domains to administer the domain give me an error too... if you say that this features are supported maybe im installing bad .. here is how i compiled samba 3: ./configure --prefix=/usr --localstatedir=/var \ --with-configdir=/etc/samba \ --with-privatedir=/etc/samba \ --with-codepagedir=/etc/codepages \ --with-fhs \ --with-quotas \ --with-smbmount \ --with-pam \ --with-syslog \ --with-utmp \ --with-vfs \ --with-sambabook=/usr/share/swat/using_samba \ --with-swatdir=/usr/share/swat make proto make all nsswitch/libnss_wins.so make debug2html make bin/smbspool make install any mistake from my part???
J.F:> you will be able to set this parameters with user manager next week. > > and we can add a net command too ? > > J.F.but. my problem is that currently i cannot use UsrMgr with samba3 CVs.. gime an error... in the back samba 2_2 cs open UserMgr but cannot change parameters.. instead samba 3 doesnt list the users. and with win9x clients retrieving the list of users give an error too.. my problem?? or reporeted to be as is? pls check it because i only need to list my users (remember the 100+ bug) if samba3 cant do that at the moment i swich back to my samba 2.2..
